I have never used or purchased any DAZ models. I am basically a DAZ model virgin. Since DAZ has started a big sale, I am ready to take the DAZ model plunge. I have decided to get Mike and Vicky 3 with the Head and Body Morph packages. After that I am totally lost and overwhelmed with the available items. What are the best options for body textures, clothes, morphs and character packs? 1)The DAZ Platinum club? 2)PoserWorld? 3)Renderosity Store, PoserPros Store? 4)Any place else for additional goodies? I welcome all responses. Thanks

Check the free textures available in many places. The Platnum Club at DAZ is a good deal - I am a happy member . . . you pay 7.95 a month and get a 5.00 coupon each month that you can spend - but not on PC items. So . . if you plan on buying stuff from them - membership in the club is not that expensive. You will neeed textures for M3 and V3. . . maybe buy some. . . but there is a ton for free for them. Check the freebies here as a first step . . . Sales at DAZ will happen again.

Poserworld, $30 a year for whatever they have in stock. Stuff comes out at least twice a month, often more.

Remember that the current DAZ figures have compatible UV mapping, so a texture for Aiko 3 can be used with Vicky 3. There are differences in the material zones, with Aiko 3 having legs divided into several sections, but that's not difficult to sort out manually, with the copy and paste options in the Materials Room. The sale will last at least until mid-March, so you've time to look around and try things. RuntimeDNA has some useful P5 and P6 sets which will let you adjust the tone of a texture, though you don't get a realistic difference between palms and the rest of the skin on the darker tones. Keep an eye out for the British 3D graphics magazines, as they have free CDs which can include Poser content. I think you'll get more out of working on using face morphs. I see a lot in galleries, here and elsewhere, which have an obviously standard Vicky 3 face. Body morphs and clothing can be more of a problem. I bought PhilC's Wardrobe Wizard, which can make a huge difference to your choices. Even if you don't convert from one figure to another, it can handle fitting clothes to a morphed figure. It's worth keeping track of PoserPros, as they have occasional buy-one-get-one-free offers. The list of potential free items includes some seriously good character/texture sets. For some types of clothing, instead of worrying about bits of a figure poking through you can just make parts of the body invisible. Boots, for instance. It's actually something some clothing sets do.

Wondering something similiar.I have some free stuff, but I need good textures,head/body morphs, clothes, mainly for v3 atm. (I also have a few daz purchased characters and textures)V3 for people is about all I am playing with currently, but that is mostly free stuff. The digital beauty kit has some nice stuff, but the pro doesn't let you see the textures and the pics aren't bad, but not overly impressive. Anybody, got this? What do you think? I am wondering if getting the m3/v3 head/body morph kit might not be better and choosing other components elsewhere.
No need to think outside the box....
Just make it
invisible.

How is the quality of the DAZ M3/V3 clothing at Poserworld? How does the Poserworld items compare to other store items?

You can get some really great clothing at Daz. I recommend their Platinum Club because you can get lots of nice things for $1.99. Once you have the outfits there are lots of free textures (and bought ones) that make it an even bigger value. Also when you join you get LOTS of links to loads of free stuff. As far as figure texture packs (character addons) I tend to buy them here or at Poser Pros... usually when the items are on sale, but not always. That's not to say that Daz doesn't have nice figure texture packages (character addons), but I find most of the ones here and at Poser Pros are more "realistic" in nature. I find that some merchants make lots of textures for PoserWorld items. PoserWorld is a great value. For your membership you get access to hundreds of items from clothing to textures to props for a wide range of figures from old to new. I haven't really run into many free textures for PoserWorld items though. Of course you can rehue and use materials in the material room to change the look of the clothing if you want to, or create your own textures in a graphic program. Other stores where I buy things: RDNA 3D Commune But I primarily shop here, Daz and Poser Pros and find pretty much all that I need in those 3 places. I supplement my library with lots of great free items I find around the internet: clothing textures, character addons, props Some links with great freebies: http://poserpros.daz3d.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=19&sid=c4bcbb7da6d5be451255f9df3aac6f44 http://www.poser-corner.de/freebies/ http://digitalbabes2.com/ There are dozens of others, but those are 3 staple ones.

Quote: I am wondering if getting the m3/v3 head/body morph kit might not be better and choosing other components elsewhere. I'm afraid that DAZ morphpacks are something you'd need sooner or later anyway. Custom morphs are rather rare (both freebie and pay-for), most of different faces seen around is made using DAZ morphs. Without them you could use only a small percent of characters bought/downloaded.
