I'm trying to decide whether to jump on the C5 and Hexagon bundle tonight or just upgrade to C5 pro. The polygonal modeling has always been very frustrating for me in Carrara (I only have version 3). Does Hexagon have an easier learning curve? Am I missing out not going to the Pro version of Carrara? Any and all input appreciated! memaci

I don't think you will regret getting C5Pro and Hexagon. With the way both get updated and the really WOW cheap plugins available--and coming-- it's a dream combination.

Thanks. I can't afford the C5Pro and Hexagon bundle. Only the C5 and Hexagon. Or I can get the C5Pro upgrade... decisions, decisions. At this rate I will probably pass on Hexagon this go around.

I like hex in terms of modeling ease, but already being in carrara is a huge advantage. The vertex modeller is much better. I would try the hex demo tho. If modelling is important to you you owe it to yourself to try both demos to see if you can model comfortably in one.The dynamic geometry along w/ other features is really great in hex.

Get the C5Pro first. Then get Hexagon 2 when it comes out. They may offer a competitive upgrade for it from Silo, or some other modeler you might have.

Very good suggestion there Shonner. Ringo

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have decided to go the Carrara 5 Pro route and wait on Hexagon for now. The offere was so extremely tempting. Hopefully I will be back into the swing of modeling and rendering soon! memaci

Shonner, I was thinking the same. With all the new additions. Shouldn't it be out around summer?

I think you will love Carrara 5 Pro. It is a very powerful tool for a really competitive price.

Eovia seems to release new versions every 18 months. Maybe they'll demo it at this year's Siggraph.

I think it is much shorter cycle than that. C4 was announced in Aug. 2004. That's more like 14-16 months. Assuming Hex follows suit.
