Is this the same full version offered on the web?

6MM posted Thu, 09 March 2006 at 2:09 AM

Renderosity is offering the same full version, but this version is the box product. Please support the site by purchasing Comic Book Creator from Renderosity.com. Thank you. Ning

I'd love to support 'Rosity, as indeed I have on many occasions as my bank will testify ;-) The point is I already have the downloaded version waiting to activate which costs the same. If you add on shipping then it's more expensive from here, sorry!

Hey 6MM what's this "ghostscript" that I need to install to create jpegs? I bit the bullet and activated my copy but now it wants this Gostscript! Sounds dodgy so any info would be appreciated!

Hi thefixer, Ghostscript is not a "dodgy" piece of software. It's a well known freeware program that allows CBC to publish your comic to PDF. You'll also need Adobe Reader or Acrobat. Ghostscript and Adobe Reader are both included on our installation prompt. Please install Ghostscript from the installation software, and you'll be able to publish to PDF!

Hi 6MM, yea I did anyway, there was something else as well about screen capture but that wouldn't install. Any ideas?

Hi thefixer, I believe you're talking about FRAPS, a shareware software we have on the disc. FRAPS is used for screen captures. If you don't need that capability, you won't need to install that software.

Thanx for the prompt reply, I did kinda want to install it but it wouldn't install for some reason, any idea why? Sorry to be a pain, Oh! it was a joke about the dodgy software by the way! ;-))

thefixer, Any specific problem about the installation? What error message do you experience? Please send me an email at ning@planetwidecomics.com I don't want to clog up this thread with technical support information more than it already has. if anyone has any issues with CBC, please feel free to send me an email.

Hi. I've been looking at this as a much easier way for me to create comics than using photoshop/illustrator, but I'd like to ask a couple of questions before committing: Are the speech bubbles expandable without stretching the 'arrows' (don't know what they're called)? How easy is it to create your own templates? Can you create strips in the style of, say, 'Peanuts' or are you confined to full-page? What is the memory limit per page? TIA Martin

6MM posted Tue, 21 March 2006 at 9:58 AM

Hi Martin, Yes, you can expand the speech bubbles to any size and shape you want. On the PNG balloons you can "retail" them in any direction you want. The templates are written in XML, so you can make your own templates if you want to mess with XML code. We have a new content pack on our site full of comic strip templates. We haven't reached any memory limit capacity on our pages -- CBC saves it's file as a CBCX format, a proprietary format we created. Thanks for the interest. Let me know if you have any questions. You can either post them here, or email me at ning@planetwidecomics.com

Hey, I'm in no way involved with CBC, just a happy customer. If anyone is even thinking of buying this, do so - it's super easy to use and incredibaly versatile. Oh, and you can add any TT font you have to the font list, a happy discovery I just made. :) I'm super happy with it and it's pretty damn inexpesive on top of it.

6MM posted Tue, 21 March 2006 at 11:54 AM

Thanks for the kind words, orangeparty. We've made about 10 of our own "comic-ish" fonts that are included. However, you can definitely use any of the TT fonts that are installed on your computer.
