On the frontpage of the Renderosity website, one finds a product mentioned. It has a Latin name, and oh boy does it mean something in the language: "Phallus Dei" Wish I'd thought of that one ! ;-)

There was an Album at the end of the 60's with that name. It was by a German Group. Sort of a Space Rock. I use to have it and a few others by the Group. They were almost must haves. (Switched on Bach was another of those off beat records that were a must have.)

Its not a group - its a song by a german group called Amon Duul - heavy stuff
jonnybode posted Mon, 13 March 2006 at 10:07 AM
To be be a show off I must say that the groups name was Amon Duul 2, Amon Duul was the community they belonged too whom later broke in to two parts, Amon duul 2 and Amon Duul. Both groups made some serious music and I dig them a lot (of course on vyl). But at stated, Phallus Dei is a damn cool name on anything :) Regards /

sorry to disturb, but to be precise, the name of the band was "Amon Dl 2". please note the difference between characters 'u' and '. little in graphics, but considerable in pronounciation :-P

Damn! Wish i knew how to make that character :)

"Its not a group - its a song by a german group called Amon Duul - heavy stuff" Actually, there is a german group by the name Phallus Dei as well ;) They just came 20 years after the track by Amon Dl II :D
Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

I never said the Group's name was Phallus Dei, that was one of their Albums. (Most likely the Song as well, but I only bought Albums, never singles. Another album was Wolf City and I had a third, but I can not recall that name... Tans Der Lemming (sp?) Sorry, my German is horrible. LP, pah... I had Switched on Bach on Reel to Reel! I most likely still have it, though I no longer have my Reel to Reel player!

Evidently Walter Carlos didn't think phallus was Dei.
Rance01 posted Mon, 13 March 2006 at 3:51 PM
I think Walter Carlos didn't think much of phallus. Didn't he become Wilma Carlos?

Wendy, I think, post phallus op.

xen, I think you are right. A quick search on Google brought up Wendy Carlos results. Best Wishes, Rance

Yep, just a joke on my part. Walter Carlos did the brilliant "Switched on Bach" albums in the early 70s (actually I think they started in the late 60s) and also the soundtrack for "A Clockwork Orange," but changed gender at some point. Past works are now credited to Wendy.
