I pre-ordered Hexagon 2 from Eovia which is coming out in April. Any Hexagon users here? It has UV unmapping like modo 201 has and displacement, texture, and bump map painting like ZBrush 2 has. And it handles more polys now for models than it used to.

I own it...don't use it much though. Silo's covered about all my bases. Still, I'm interested in seeing what Hexagon 2 can do. Maybe I'll slide over to it while waiting for Silo2....

Yes, Hexagon is the easiest program I've tried to learn, despite the line tools (which I'm using a lot) being a let down next to Shade, I'm finding that I'm using it for everything now. For an amateur starting out like me, it's a great place to start and looks more and more like it will be the one to continue with as I improve. These new tools a very welcome - particularly the UV mapping, that will make a big difference to workflow. There's no doubt that there is enough here to earn it's upgrade, not just extra frills. I didn't hesitate.

Yeah, I just had a look and almost everything mentioned in the Silo 2 specs are mentioned in the Hexagon 2 specs. I'm still not a huge fan of modeling in Hexagon though. Maybe that'll change when 2.0 is released.

i have Silo1 and Hex1, i prefer Silos UI though Hex has the better toolset in my opinion, thats a personal preference on my part not a critism of either app.
I'll probably go the Hex2 way though thats aslo a pref not a crit.
i am biased so disregard this and try both demos and decide yourselfs when released this is my unbiased advice.

Not sure where to post this, but was wondering when or if Renderosity was going to create a software forum for Hexagon. So far it seems as though Renderosity is ignoring this software, which in version 2 looks like a major contender to me.

I definitely plan to upgrade to Hexagon 2, and am definitely imressed with what Eovia is doing with this one.

There hasn't been enough interest in it here for a forum. Same thing with the slightly more popular Silo. When we see more folks requesting a forum for one or both of these programs, we'll start a forum.

A forum would be great! That's one more request.

There's a poll going on over at eovia3d.net to see what interest there is in trying to get a Hexagon forum at Renderosity.
