I just received a Carl Ziess Jena DDR 2.8/50mm lens from Ebay. This lens only cost 8.00 inc P&P, then I tried it on the 350D and it would not focus to infinity and there was a hair in the lens itself between the two pieces of glass. Damm I just bought a piece of junk. A quick search on the web I found this site how to service the exact same lens. Anyway to cut a long storey short I took it apart down to the aperture blades, took the hair out then 3 hours later finally getting the focusing barrel screwed in the right place it works brilliantly. Its not multicoated but it still a sharp lens. Now lets do a quick search for a "Takumar (Tak) 50mm f1.4" on Ebay no no no somebody stop me :o)

8.00 inc P&P!!! Bargain! I got the EF 50mm f1.4 for 20, I can now see I was ripped off lol Not that easy to get a bargain on eBay these days The detail and contrast look fantastic, not sure I would like to have a go at the servicing though; then again, there wasnt that much at stake.

The Truth is Out There
