Just wondering if there is a limit to the amount of plugins and filters for the more I add now I seem to be losing the same number and can't scroll past the "PH's) anymore...d'oh! Thanks

Are you appending them? ... as far as I know, the only limit is your patience.... the more plug-ins you add in immediate mode, ( append ), the longer it takes for Photoshop to load. Lou.

Well I am strictly referring to installing 3rd party plugins and filters, not brushes, patterns, styles, etc... ( I do realize that complex layer styles appended is a real load time killer!). But clicking on the arrow from the Filters dropdown, won't go past "Ph*". If say I install another plugin beginning in "R", I probably wouldn't be able to scroll down past "Pa*". It appears as though there is a limit, however I can't find any documentation of the fact. I realize I could probably spend some time and trim some fat, but just curious if anyones knows of a limit or not.

No, I was talking about 3rd party, as well as the Adobe ones.... Half of what I have is, maybe more. Have you tried renaming them just for example, to something like Art 1... art 2, and so on? I have no clue as to why it wouldn't accept anything beyond a certain "level"... the other thing you could do, would be to set them in clusters as libraries... granted, it'd be extra, but do you use all of them, every time?... anyway, then, you'd only have to call for the library that you need.. Now you've got me wondering about that... I've never heard of any limit, like I said, except patience, and libraries make it simpler. Lou.

AHA!.... the old" when all else fails, read the book" solution..... according to Adobe, when you have too many for the immediate list, you use,( for filters ), the submenu Filter>Other, and that will bring up the rest of your list. Lou.

Doesn't help here Lou. Thanks for the help, but I'm not beating my head against the wall on this one. I was just curious if anyone else has expereienced the issue or know why it occours. I think part of the problem lies in developers of some plugs don't bundle all effects into one .8bf file, but seperate them so the list grows longer. I can trim some fat though. When CS came out, I liked having PS7 loaded with the plugins and custom effects I use, and also having a clean CS for quick fixes and enhanced use. C'mon CS3!!!

I think, when you get to bottom of plugin list, arrwow will appear that permits to scroll down. Should be in center of bottom of menu. But im not sure, as i can see all my plugs at once. S.

Well that's a no-brainer. I can't scroll down using the arrow past files starting with "Ph*". I can scroll for a bit, but it stops at "Ph*".

I found if I toss a few out, I can get down to the plugs starting with "Y", so apparently there is a limit and using the optional plugin directory doesn't help.
