Does anyone know if anyone has a plug-in, or has ever attempted a plug-in that will generate a true 3D grid... Visually, it would look like a stack of wireframe cubes.Lou.

I haven't heard of such a plugin. Just tried doing it by hand, it's harder than it seems! Extrude dup won't work, it looks like... There is that tutorial for creating mist, that duplicates a plane along a path, you might try a variation of that with cubes. Really tired right now, but I can find that link for you tomorrow.

You could use boolean operations and just slice holes in a big cube.

Actually, what I'm hoping to find, is a reference grid, like what you start with, but three dimensional....Maybe it's a fantasy, but I'd thought someone might have done it.🤤 Lou.

I did manage to come up with a relatively pain-free way to make a 3d grid, but it comes out looking really messy and you can only see most of the lines in edit mode, which I suspect is nothing like what you want. I suspect if you want a 3d grid for reference you're going to have to get it added to the interface.

Is this close to what you need? I just extruded individual faces and set the material to 'wire'.

 Nicko, that might do what, but what I was asking for would be something that would plug in to the interface,  like Haloedrain said.... . I suppose what I need to do, is take a look and see if this wasn't something that someone has tried for, before. Lou.

Well, I hope your plug in comes eventually.  Its probably just a matter of time.  Those blenderheads writing the software are pretty keen.:m_wink:

laugh Yeah... the LAST time I got frustrated over something, and started to do a plugin for myself, they came out with it  in the new version..... I wonder if they're telepathic? Lou.

They may be psychic, but you should probably still suggest it on one of the official development forums anyway (probably the interface one) 😄
