...do create proper e-bots. Sending an e-bot with just the address of the thread was bad when it led to the top post of 100, but at least it was on the same page. Now, when there are threads with 7-8 pages, it's simply ridiculous. "Did I stop on page 5 or page 6? Or was it 4?" Ridiculous. Picking the message anchor for an e-bot is apparently no big deal in PHP - PHPBB can do it, vBulletin can do it... (And yeah, an e-bot for every single reply is bad.) Also, putting the smilies on a separate page where I have to copy the code is not good enough. Other forums have just clicking on an emoticon. I also suggest putting the reply form on a separate page you get when you click on Reply or Quote. And then put the emoticons beside the textarea. The current mode of reply is awkward. Especially so since the only dropdown menu for the navigation is down below the reply box. BTW, 1.5 kB for that New Reply star is ... whoa! It shouldn't take more than 0.5 kB. It's just four colours. Use a GIF, not a JPEG.

Just above the thread list in each forum..where the page numbers are, there is a statement that says "sort by last reply" (It might say "sort by post date"). If you click it, you can choose between sorting by date of the post or last reply. If you pick "date of post", you have to go through multiple pages in order to find new posts. If you pick "sort by last reply", all threads that have new posts will be moved to the top of the forum. After you have read the threads, click "mark all before XXX read". That way any new posts that have been made since you arrived at that forum for that particular session, will show up with yellow stars. If you pick "mark all read", that will not only mark the threads you have just read as having been read, but any new posts that were made while you were reading.

This we can do only if we are not angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to say." - Ghandi

Yes, thank you, but that's not what I'm asking for. Even if my threads are sorted by the last answer, the e-bot will still take me to the very first post.
