Hi all. Finnally getting around to texturing again in the new poser :) However I have got the material room figured out...basically anyhow. I have the textures saved there. But how do I now create the mat poses for them so people can apply them in poses rather than hunting the materials in material room...or do you suggest just doing it this way; in the materials I mean??? Basically I need opinions and a link to a tut if possible. Thanks all.

Do a www.google.ca search for MAT POSE EDIT. You can make the MAT files with that. I tried texturing and found out that I really didn't like it. I found it too tedious.

If you want to create P5/P6 specific MAT poses, you can pretty much do it from Poser 6 without any other software. Save the thing as a Material Collection in P6, then edit the file with a text editor. Change the version number to 4, so you don't get an error message if you try to run it in a version other than 6. Change "mtlcollection" to "figure" Change the file extension to "pz2" That's it!

Well, if you got Poser 6, then just save them to the materials library as material collection. And if you really want to support P5, than compare the file with a MAT pose file and you'll see what you need to change to get a pz2 from it. I really rather would like the mc6 in the material room though. There's really no need for MAT Poses with P6 anymore.

If you're just doing it for yourself then just use the P6 material room, if you want to make it available to others then what SamTherapy said is the easiest way to do it. I'm not a professional, but Mapps told me to do it that way for a character I'm making for freestuff and it worked properly and was very easily done!

If you're making it available, then please keep the material collection files in addition to the MAT pose files, so P6 users can just delete the unnecessary MAT poses instead of wasting time to change them into material collections...

I second this idea. Quote - "But how do I now create the mat poses for them so people can apply them in poses rather than hunting the materials in material room..."

having materials in the material room has made my library far more organized. This meens less "hunting" in both rooms.

Thank you! I can't take the credit for it, though. I had to ask here a couple of weeks ago. :)

The thing to keep in mind is that if you are using Poser 6 and like using mt6 files (and you should like them they ar great) is that the mt6 can be turned into a PZ2 in about 1 minute with practice. This can be done with a copy of the file so you still have the original. If you are sharing the file (free or market) then simply include both the PZ2 and the MT6. If you are using Poser 5 or earlier, shave teh finished character to the poser library (no compression) and then open it with either word pad (windows) or text edit (OSX) and copy and paste the material info from the Cr2 into PZ2. The material info appears last int eh Cr2 so scrole to the end and select upward to the strart of the material info. This info in Poser 4 & Pro is not too bad but in 5 or 6 it is a long list. Don't worry about 4 or pro users if using 5 or 6 as it will ignore shader trees that it does not understand and will work just fine. Though using a program is less work getting in under the "hood" like this realy helps you to understand how poser realy ticks.
