Does this look like a piece of injection molded plastic?

Close?

I've been staring at it too long...

Looks pretty close to me.

danamo posted Wed, 12 April 2006 at 1:52 AM

Looks good to me! Reminds me of the plastic  you find on dashboards and car interiors.

dadt posted Wed, 12 April 2006 at 4:15 AM Online Now!

Looks very good except for one thing. The groove round the object ,presumably where the joint line in the mould comes, should be a raised line, otherwise the object would be locked in the mould.

AgentSmith posted Wed, 12 April 2006 at 4:24 AM

It's two halves that fit together.

There will be small screws going in from the top. Here's an updated upper half.

Nah! Looks like something modelled in wings.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe I will change mine every one or two days as well - sort of like on a rotor basis IE: My original - A new one - My original - A new one...

I got my fave (which seems to be everyone elses fave too), but I'll change it up once in a while.

Agent Smith,

If you were to be able to get 2 or 3 avatars into an animated gif and be able to change the frame rate to something real slow you might be able to have them change without doing a thing.

I seem to recall Corel Photo Paint 8 would do something like this.

AgentSmith posted Wed, 12 April 2006 at 7:20 AM

Yeah, a long time ago I had something that compiled images to make animated gifs...Ulead Smart Saver or something like that. Used it to compile a little Bryce animation together, and have it on my front page.

One last late night wip. Designs added, screwheads added, and in black plastic this time.

Tomorrow, I'll start boolean cutting the heck out of it to stick the eyepiece part inside.

The updated version looks pretty convincing. With a little more tex tweaking it will look superb!

BTW AS, can you have an animated gif here?

Michael

AgentSmith posted Wed, 12 April 2006 at 9:09 PM

Lol...okay, took me half a day, but paul's joke finally penetrated my thick skull.

I'm having internet problems today, so that's why I had a red x for an avatar earlier. A new avatar seems to have finally made it through now.

Sans; yes you can have an animated gif, as long as its under 25kb

PJF posted Wed, 12 April 2006 at 9:21 PM

There you go. I warned against the unnatural beastliness of males using female avatars. I implored, nay demanded, a rule change. But no, no one listens to me. And now look...

Frack me ;-)

If anyone else get's the hot's for my avatar - I'll be left with no other option than to start an appreciation thread where you can all get it out of your system.

And Peter, stop being so obvious;

We all know the REAL reason for your obsession with my avatar.  It's because I called you "dear"...you saw my avatar...you got a boner...then you were utterly dissapointed when you saw "pumeco" above it.

Len. ( This is blatant sexual harassment this is - THANK-YOU! ) :tt2:

I know, I know - isn't it pathetic how they crawl when you have an attractive avatar - I dunno

Because I haven't see Sans' around lately - I will disclose for the final time (this will be disclosure #4).

My avatar is Yulia Volkova (Musician).  Who, incidentally - you will soon be able to hear by clicking on my signature for a free .MP3 - you lucky guys!

I really like the design and materials in that last render AS!

@TJ-Thanks for the link! That's a fascinating development  in nanomolecular reaearch!

AgentSmith posted Fri, 14 April 2006 at 10:37 PM

I'm finished with the eyepiece now, I just have to make up a quick doo-dad that clips it to the helmet.

I probably won't be using the black plastic material in the final analysis, as the whole outfit seems to be leaning towards an overall brown, but the black plastic will be included in the mat collection I'm putting together for you all.
