this new format for the forums is virtually non responsive. It is a rare moment to get through the barrier to even read the list of posts, and even harder to get this far

I was having some issues with my Mozilla Firefox browser since they put in the new reply window. I found that it was hanging up my browser, causing a permanent green loading status bar even when the page looked like it was fully loaded, and crashing lots.
I thought my browser was automatically updating because that's what I had it set to do, but it wasn't for some reason. I manually downloaded the very latest version and now the forum is working as it should.
I also went into my Temporary Internet Files folder and manually deleted the entire contents from inside there. That might have helped too.
What browser are you using? I know some are having trouble with Netscape and AOL still.

The forums, unlike other parts of this site, are exclusively stubborn to load ... or for that matter harder than any other site I visit.

Opera seems to function better than firefox as far as I can tell. Still has a "back button" freeze and image load freeze once in a while. This is still under construction.

Most customers don't use firefox, they use the standard issue microsoft. The response time here is reminiscent of dial up vs cable

Just had a hard lock up and had to kill the browser process - using SlimBrowser (IE based). Another forum "improvement" I suppose. Hopefully, six retired 'Rosity administrators will call for its termination.

I am getting many lock ups. Upgrading Firefox has only made things werse. Most peolple use IE is not a good excuse for buggy web pages. NO OTHER sites or forums I have ever visited have conflicts with Firefox and I would say thet using a non-IE browser is an ESSENTIAL security measure. I suppose I must try Opera again. I did not really love it when I last tried it. Isn't it a IE interfcace though? I have gone from broadband speed download to 1999 era dial-up speeds on this site. There apear to be nefarious or ill-written scripts on the forum pages. The hangs are really bumming me out! There are REAL problems here. I can aceepty the unpleasent llok and feel but these technical bugs...

I feel fortunate to not have any problems with the new forum format. If anything, it's faster than before. The only modifications I made to my browser was to disable animations to stop all the jumping, spinning, and dancing icons.
In all fairness though, it may be faster now because fewer people are using the forums.

i am using the latest version of opera on both windows xp and mac osx tiger, and the forums are now generally as fast for me than they were before. like junkoh above, the only change i've made is to turn off gif animations. please direct future complaints about the forums to the community center, as the sticky post up at the top asks. it doesn't make the forums any faster to post off-topic traffic here, we've heard all the complaints 50 times over already, and none of us can do a thing about them.
