I would like to place a black border around my photos. Can anyone tell me how to do this in CS2?

I have a series of eight photos and my aim is to have a black border around each of them and then place them into a comic strip layout. Any advice will be very welcome.

Start a new image.  Place your photo on the new background.  Go to Layer tab, Layer Style, Stroke.

A screen will open that you can adjust any way you like, any color & size you want, including gradients and patterns.

You can delete the background layer and as long as your photo layer is transparent you should have what you want.

To make black border, simply press D to set the default colors. Then press X to switch foreground and background colors. With crop tool select the whole image and drag OUT while holding SHIFT + ALT finally press ENTER and border is here. If you need specific size of the image, go to image - image size and set the desired size :)
Btw for multiple addings of border use batch procesing :)

I forgot to mention that the easiest and most precise way of placing those eight pics in layout is by using grid. Set the desired grid size in preferences :)

Alternately you could, upon making certain that your BG is set to black, go into Canvas size and with the box in the center  and set to pixels, adjust the size of your canvas up to how many pixels wide you want your border to be...eg: for an 800x600 image you would change the size to say 850x650 and hit ok and tickety boo y' have a black border 25 pixels wide around the image

 

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again
