I've always wanted to make my own model, but I don't know how. And I'm not talking about morphing other models into something slightly different. I would like to know everything you'd need to do in order to make an original model. Like would I need special programs? If so, what ones?
I'm not sure if I'll be able to ever make one though, I'm only 14 and I don't know how to make all that stuff I'd need to do, but I'd like to try..

You need a modeling program to do that. The ones I use, 3ds max, Lightwave and Rhino, can be pretty expensive, but there are a couple of free ones available. One of them is called Wings 3d. If you go to the wings 3d forum here at renderosity, there is a link there to where you can download it free.
There are a couple of other free programs too, including anim8tor, and Blender.

Yup..highly recommended. Quinlor's done some fairly detailed characters in Wings, he has a tutorial out there somewhere. In the old days, I'd say do a search for his name, but I'm still getting up to speed on the 'new' forums. I've done some (unposed) robots, so it's just a question of what you want to do, and how much you want out of it.I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit
