Grover finally makes it to my side of the town.  Seems like he gained a few pounds since his visit with Dave aka Punaguy.  A few cold showers to get his mind off from Punani Wahine and I think he will be ok.  We need to get him in shape before our tour begins.  Don't worry, he is in safe hands.  Aloha

Punaguy posted Wed, 19 April 2006 at 10:30 PM

Dang!  His own Harley and everything! Isn't he stylin' now! That traveling jacket from Marlene really suits him well...Oooooooh, what a sick pun. Can't wait to see what kind of trouble he will get in when he hits the road with his new hog. I'm sure Punani would love to take a ride with this stud! Have a great time with him,  I miss him already!

Aloha, Dave~

Woah, he does look way cool on that Harley. I can just picture him biking around with Errol...the size difference would be a hoot! You say he gained a few pounds? You mean ounces, right? I hope so, otherwise he won't be so easily mailed. Must be all that poi Punani fed him. 😉 Great shot buddy, can't wait to see more!

Ok?  How do I look Mr. Pineapple?  Maika'i (excellent) says Mr. Pineapple.  Poor Grover, I think he'd rather see Punani wearing the Hula skirt than he.  Grover needs to get Punani off his mind.  So Grover goes out doors next.

Punaguy posted Fri, 21 April 2006 at 12:39 AM

Well....he certainly has settled in a bit a your house...nice to see him slip into something a little more island style...A few hula lessons to go with that grass skirt seems to be in order here Uncle Sharky...I'm sure you still remember a few steps from your hula days you could teach him. Punani's eyes lit up to see Grover in a grass skirt..Sa-Woooooooooooooon. Maika'i Errol, Maika'i! :thumbupboth:

Grover tries his luck in sailing his outrigger canoe ( called wa'a in Hawaiian).  I think Grover is just a little to far away from the ocean as you can see the tide marks behind him...

sharky_ posted Fri, 21 April 2006 at 9:29 AM

Grover moves his canoe a little further towards the ocean and hopefully the high tide will take him out.  Being a fisherman my self, one must never turn his back towards the ocean or...............

As you can see he is safe and sound!  , Grover dries off on a driftwood and will get some rest before his next adventure in Hawaii

TwoPynts posted Fri, 21 April 2006 at 10:00 AM

Grover looks positively native in his wa'a. Thanks for saving him Errol! Perhaps he can try out the outrigger on some calmer waters before he takes on the mighty ocean. ;] Love the photos--I'm saving them to my files right now. =o]

Sure throw the little guy in the canoe and leave him on his own to fend off the ocean...Well, I can't talk I haven't even been in one...at least he tried...Maybe calmer waters might be the ticket as Kort suggested...Kinda looks like Gilligan trying to get off the island...Nice work Sharky!

We arrived a little to late on Mauna Kea and the sun was going down fast.  It would not be a good idea to hike at this time or we would be in the dark.  But there is always tomorrow.  As you can see, Grover is above the 13,000 ft elevation level and handles the cold weather quite well.  I really think he needs that jacket to keep warm.  A little nick name is in order for him on this hike.  "Mauna Kea Grover."  There never was and never will be another hiker like Grover on the top of Mauna Kea.

Troubles.  Grover and I got up at 4 am in the morning, got our truck set up for Mauna Kea and off we went.  The morning was mostly cloudy and rainy until we got to the mountain.  Up high was all sky.  Our target was Lake Waiau which is 13,020 ft above sea level.  We stopped by the Ellison Onizuka building to acclimate before going up higher.  When Glover jumped off the truck, he notices that our anti-freeze was gushing out.  The water pump was broken.  Lake Waiau was not meant to be today.  For now, its Grover's Lake from a shooting we did earlier........sorry for the disappointment.

sharky_ posted Wed, 26 April 2006 at 1:40 AM

So with the truck in repair, we headed towards Kilauea Volcano area.  There was just to much steam everywhere that it was hard to get a clear shot....  In the background is Halemaumau crater, home of our Fire Goddess Pele.

sharky_ posted Wed, 26 April 2006 at 3:06 AM

Heading towards the sulfur banks, Grover stops and gets a little steam bath with his Jacket on (steam cleaning at the same time).

TwoPynts posted Wed, 26 April 2006 at 8:16 AM

Sorry to hear about your truck troubles Errol, but at least you got a pic of MKG in the snow next to lake Grover! It is awsome that you took him to see the home of Pele. I was there back in the mid 80's and found it to be a very awe inspiring place, sulfur fumes and all. Hey, he's looking good in his steam cleaned jacket! :thumbup
