Hello everybody, I haven't posted here for quite some time, howver I'm stuck with an image I'm currently working on... Does anyone know how to create a realistic velvet similiar to the one on the Poser render attached? Any advice or hints on tutorials are mostly appreciated. Many thanks, Phil

Judging from the image you submitted, you may want to increase the highlight value of the material but not make it shiny as then it would look like latex.  Also be sure to give it a slight bump to diffuse the highlight effects you create.

Do you mean something like that, as a general idea ? In the left image, the sun comes from the upper left, in the righ image, it is in the back of the camera, slightly up and right. Perhaps I tuned up the dark part too much. The original idea to work this way isn't mine, it came from Polax, last autumn. Gerhard

Hi Gerhard,

That's what I'm up for.  :thumbupboth:
Could you please let me know what settings you've used to create that material? This would help a lot. In the Vue image I'm currently working on the light's mainly come from the upper right in the back (moon shining through a window), however I'll also need to set up a light in front to light girl's face as well.

Many thanks,
Phil

Oh man, I think GP France nailed it!  His VUE velvet looks real.

thanks... it's function editor math. So I'll trail that beast further - there yet are problems with shadows on that mat... Must get that clean, before telling about :-)
