Ok, so im getting quite annoyed at the continued ranting about the new forum and php and shit like that. Really, I like the people here when they're being artists, friends, family, talking about their creations, their jobs, their families, their good times, their bad times, their sometimes weird senses of humor and other such things. But when it comes to the php updates MOST OF U PEOPLE SUCK FRIGGEN ASS!!
while using the old EZ forum
"Oh i cant wait for php! This old forum is so damn ancient! eew its like icky dude! just look at that url, do I read "forum.ez? in 2006?? I mean wtf man that is like so oldscool, gimme some righteous gnarly php shizzle 'n stuff!"
php forum gets launched
"YAY!! Hoorah for PHP omg this is so awesome! New technology! wow, look at this shiney new thing, im gunna get my keyboard chromed now so it will look as futuristic as this new hi-tech php stuff!"
php forum gets used
"EEEEEEK!!! NONONONONOOOO!! It is not the same as the old forum! omg like how can u do that?? why did u change it? i want my ancient forum back! omg it like, doesnt even work in my browser that no one in the right mind would ever use because it has sucked asses for like 10 years straight by now! and where are my colors??? Common, why doesnt this forum come with built-in LSD trips? I want my coooooloooors!"
colors inserted
"Woohoo! look at my new css style baby! isnt it like groooovy man?"
Ray looks at people's css examples, closes eyes in horror and thanx god for blind typing as he presses the back button to get away from the screenshots with horribly ugly color scemes when suddenly he hears the noise of people marching through the streets shouting stuff about colors;
"I want to be able to color my text yea! comon u lazy-ass php programmers give me tha colors! C-O-L-O-R-S!"
colored text inserted
"omg the changable colorscemes and changable colored text don't work well together! shaaaame on u stuuupid php programmers! Yes i know it was me who asked for this but why didnt u tell me no?"
"omg php is like the horror man! eew php stinks smells reeks sucks and just generally should be fucking banned! the php doesnt work on my 'puter!"
uhm... php is like serverside... the php itself never actually reaches ur computer...
Me personally, I have yet to be annoyed but once by the new forum since like.. well, lets be safe and say at least 2 weeks? Do you disagree? Well then i dare u to start ranting 'cuz that's what i started this thread for! Go rant in here about stuff and the rest of the forum nice and clean and free of crying about the changes.
Thank you

Ray

uh...did I miss something? I haven't seen any recent threads with people complaining about or raving about the php forum. Maybe it's the "last reply" sort that makes it seem recent. I use the "by date" sort.
The only gripes about the colors I remember are the ones like mine about the bright white background to the text making my eyes hurt. I just needed a little darker background, which I have now.
The new type forum works fine for me now, and all the smaller complaints that people have are being addressed.
Other than the major problems that AOL users (like Bryster) are having staying connected to the Forums, I haven't really seen that much complaining lately.
It's not like you to belittle people's valid complaints. Maybe you were trying to be funny.
Yeah, that was probably it.
This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

I am indeed stumbling upon the lastest reply's. But that doesn't matter. I really thought that by now the raving would've stopped, but it keeps dragging on. ok it's less then it used to be but comon its really getting anoying when it lasts too long.
So yea, I do try to describe it with at least a little humor, but the irritation is defenitely genuine.
Seriously, people need to just leave it be. It's not like things are going to change and it's not like anyone is benefitting from the complaints that are still draggin on. reply's or new threads, they're still polluting the once happier atmosphere in the forum.

Hmm..., I'm not too fond of the new format either, so I presume that I must suck friggen ass as well. This is normally not the kind of thread that I would respond to, but your politeness convinced me to do otherwise. As for me, my major gripes are avatars, signatures, giant smilies and yellow stars. I had the illusion to be part of an artist community, but apparently I'm part of a club of PFYs.

Good news, roobol - you can kill three out of the four; the worse ones too ;-).
At the top of the page (under the Rendo header), click on "my options". On that page you'll see check / tick boxes for:
Show other users' avatars?
Show other users' signatures?
Show smilies in posts and signatures?
Empty the boxes and your forum experience will be free of casual distractions (which is how mine is now). All that's left is the stars and the rest of us lot.
Hey, you have to suffer a bit for your art.

It means something like "dude ur so cool! omg it rocks!" it's a quote originating from an earlier thread where one of the other members said that as an example of the only kind of talk we were missing in the thread. or something like that.. it was too good to not put it in my signature

PJF, thanks. That was the most helpful suggestion I've had in years; the forum has become readable again.

I will go on longer. Until: 1) I get the ability to use the rich text editor like I can on other PHP sites. 2) Those annoying yellow stars disappear after I've read a thread. And when they make them smaller. 3) When they move the CSS completely to the users' side so nobody can mess anybody else's viewing. 4) When I stop getting tons of e-bots, for every reply to a thread, and they put just one for the first reply to be made. 5) When they put the reply box to a completely new page, not at the bottom of the thread. 6) When they put smilies right beside the reply box, and make them clickable. And when they remove the big smilies. 7) When they stop resizing the pics in threads and instead introduce an effing resolution and file size limit. And when they lower the limit on avatars to 10-15 kN, not 25. 8) When they remove the pics from the sigs. If I thought about it, I could probably come up with some more, but these are just off the top of my head.

Must be said that most forums use phpBB almost out of the box (I use it at work with a mySQL back end)), I'm not sure if the rendo guys even looked at it before they started - the one thing that bugs me the most is automation the change in read/unread stars, but it's livable, for the moment.

I think the rants will stop without the problems being fixed when the rants about the HOT 20 stop when no one has done anything to clean that mess up.
