Ok, let's see if I can explain this correctly... Sometimes I need to build an object seperate from the project I'm working on so I can veiw it easier without all the rif-raf around, so If I create an object, then texture it, then I want to take it back into the previous project file, I cut and paste. Here's the problem. Sometimes when I paste, it won't take the textures with it. At first I thought it was only stuff that I created back in Bryce 4 and 5, but I just did it tonight on a completely new object. I went into the materials lab and it shows the material still on the object, but it isn't there when I click ok, I have to redo the entire texture. Does anyone else get this problem and is there a way to fix it? I have found that saving the file and importing is a way to get around it, but that's just more hard drive space to waste.

Hm, cutting and pasting never even occured to me.
I usually save the object into the library and then import it into the scene file from there. I keep a junk drawer library that gets deleted periodically for all the little bits and pieces.
Also, I've sometime seen Bryce5.5 render an object as matte grey regardless of the material it really is. Usually just opening and closing the mat lab reminds Bryce to get it right.

Yeah, you are best off just saving the object within the create>objects>presets library.
You can literally have bryce running, bring up another instance of the bryce program, build something new in there, save it as an obp, shut that bryce down, go to the first, still running bryce, go into your object presets, and there the newly created object will be, no problem, I do it all the time.

How do you save something as and obp?? I dont see anything to allow you to do that, or am I missing it, which is quite possible. ;)
ETA: OMG...how do you merge two scenes? Crap, so much to learn and I can barely put what I know to use now. sighs

How do you save something as and obp
Select the group/object
Select the small arrow by the word "Create"
Save it as you would a mat or sky.

how do you merge two scenes
File>Merge
Note - you will not be merging the sky and camera view presets of the scenfile you bring in, just the objects in that scene (including infinite planes).
