Carrara Studio 2.1 is free and included as a CD cover disc on issue #77 of 3D World...
I'll be posting a similar message to the 3D Modelling forum here...

Cheers

So, I have to be a subscriber or something to get the copy?  Is there somewhere I can download it?  I have never used Carrara before.  Is 2.1 worth the energy?  I know this is somewhat a stupid question but what does 5 have that 2.1 doesn't...   I mean, is there some place I can look up what has been added from 2.1 to 5.1?

Thanks!
Azeiku

You can usually get a copy of the mag at B&N, or Borders for about $15bucks. I believe there is an upgrade offer in there. There has been a vast amt of improvement in Carrara, but I don't know where you can see a list. It depends on what you want to do, as to whether it is worth the energy. Carrara will be available shortly at DAZ, I am sure for standard they will have a good price so that is an option too. You can get 3 very cheap then upgrade to standard inexpensively. I am sure there are bound to be some good prices coming tho.

I did find a not too bad of a deal on this site for Carrara 4 Standard.  $94.95

http://store.purplus.net/eoca4st.html

Now, if I wanted to upgrade, do I have to go from 4 to 5?  Or could I go from 3 to 5?  Or even 2.1 to 5.1?

Thanks,
Azeiku

You get the same upgrade deal currently going from c3 or c4 to 5. Only pro is different. Don't know about 2. 3 was the minimum  to up, as far as I knew, but the mag deal is special. DAZ should be putting Carrara up there very soon tho.

I got the magazine at Borders (last one, whew), and I'm holding out for a good deal from Daz. After all, I got Hex for 1.99 from them. :)
