Welcome to the first (okay...not really) 3D Modeling Forum Monthly Challenge! Here's the low down:
Theme:
Create A Toon Character: animal, human, alien, machine...whatever, as long as it's a toon and a character. The emphasis should be on capturing personality in the model. Try getting as much of the character's personality and form down in the low res wires as possible, as that will help you. There aren't any poly limits for this challenge, so you can get as detailed or simplistic as you want. You're allowed to create your own design or use pre-existing cartoon character designs as a basis for your new model. Texturing the model is not required but is welcome, so if you have the time, feel free to do so. Posing the character is not required but can help in extablishing character or mood, so feel free to do so as well.

There are more out there so don't be afraid to search for them or make your own!
Now for the boring bit -
RULES:
First and foremost, this is all for fun, no prizes are implied and none will be given (I may make some kind of image trophy though). The first week of every month will see a new challenge begun and everyone will have 25 days to work on the theme. Entrants will be required to make a post with the name of the challenge followed by the screen name they use here. All entrants are required to post images of the model as it is being made, no pre-made models are allowed unless provided for you by the forum mod. On the 26th day, a final entry thread will be started and everyone given 2 days to get their submission in. Final entries should included an image of the model both in wireframe and rendered (or shaded). The next two days will be for voting and the winner will be decided when voting ends. Voting will be open only to those who entered the challenge to help minimize the internet buddy voting syndrome. Challenge winners will decide the theme for the following month's challenge.
So, to recap in a clear way:
A NEW CHALLENGE BEGINS THE FIRST WEEK OF EVERY MONTH
ENTRANTS WILL BE GIVEN 25 DAYS TO COMPLETE A CHALLENGE
ENTRANTS SHOULD CREATE SEPERATE THREADS WITH THE FOLLOWING SUBJECT LINE:
"3DMFMC - (Theme)-(Screen Name)"
ALL ENTRY THREADS MUST SHOW THE MODEL IN VARIOUS STAGES OF CREATION
NO PRE-MADE MODELS ALLOWED UNLESS SUPPLIED BY THE MODERATOR
FINAL ENTRIES MUST BE POSTED IN THE FINAL ENTRY THREAD BY THE 28th OF EVERY MONTH
FINAL ENTRIES SHOULD INCLUDE AT LEAST ONE WIREFRAME VIEW AND ONE RENDERED (OR SHADED) VIEW WITHIN THE SAME IMAGE.
TWO DAYS WILL BE ALLOWED FOR VOTING
VOTING IS LIMITED TO THOSE WHO ENTERED THE CHALLENGE ONLY
(Moderators have final say over theme and challenge winners. If the member is unavalialble or undecided by the last day of the first week in a new month, or decides on a theme that violates the TOS, the Moderator will create the theme for the challenge. If the challenge winner is found to have violated any one or all of these rules or has broken the TOS, a new winner will be announced.)

I'll try to cook soemthing up I have another thing I am working on now. Really at a loss of ideas now but it is a great challenge idea.

Sorry gang. I've been stuck in the crunch time phase at work and that's taken away from my schedule. I'm going to have to extend the challenge into June, as I won't be able to check back too often for the next week or so. So, we'll all meet back here June 25th. Anyone who's already entered, you can either :
1. Leave your entry as is and wait until the voting starts.
or
Again, REALLY sorry about this. I hadn't anticipated being stuck with work this fast. Hopefully I can get a Co-ord for the forum to help out when times like this pop up.
