What version of Photoshop are you running? The font folder you are talking about is the system font folder? How many fonts do you have installed? Why did you have to reinstall Photoshop? It's hard to tell what the issue may be.  Could be too many fonts installed.

dreamer, can't you rename the font list file and force PS to rebuild it??

i know i did it in the past but i'm not sure how it's handled in the newer versions... but then again, it could very well be puking on the "too many fonts"...  Hoof has a boat-load of Fonts on his system, i can't remember his solution. maybe i'll search the archives.

You can delete the font list file from the Program FilesCommon FilesAdobeFonts folder and this will cause your system to rewrite the font list. As retrocity said renaming would be safer. The font file is adobefnt.lst but it might have a version number in it such as adobefnt07.lst depending on which version you are using and which past versions you have used. There could be a corrupt font or font reference since you last installed Photoshop and it might fix your problem.

Actually, do a search and delete (rename) all occurrances of adobefnt*.lst.
