Greetings all,

What I thought might be fun is to start an ongoing alliterative writing challenge where the aim is to construct a single sentence or short passage using as many different words as possible that begin with the same sound. An example of alliteration: Sing a Song of Sixpence.

To follow in a similar vein as the Spring Haiku Challenge, the last letter of the last word of the previous submission will determine the alliterative sound to use for your composition.
To further the challenge, a theme for your composition will be decided upon by the previous author which you'll need to incorporate into your writing. Examples of themes: Love, War, Animals, Outer-space, Music, Amusement rides, Nature, Bravery, Adventure, Achievement, Junk food, etc. Try not to select too specific a theme as this will restrict creative freedom and may prove difficult to incorporate.

As a final note, be aware that just because a word begins with the same letter as your other words doesn't mean it is suited for use in alliteration; words with silent first letters for instance. Example: honour, pneumatic, knight, photograph. These words would indeed sound out of place when spoken in context, so be sure to use them correctly. (ie, honour = 'o' sound; pneumatic/knight = 'n' sound; photograph = 'f' sound). To prevent confusion and debate it will be simpler to just avoid using these types of words altogether.

Well, that's about it, so I'll begin... with the letter A, on the theme of: Vegetables

Andre the amiable antelope ambled athletically along an ample avenue admiring an abundant array of appetising artichokes and asparagus available for acquirement as advertised.

Phew. Ok, so the next composition will need to use words beginning with the letter 'd'. The theme I choose is: Spooky

So who's up for the challenge? :)
