Mine is showing I have one new message but when I click on it there is none in the inbox. :)
Is this a glitch that will be fixed.

This is when I am viewing the gallery pages.
Why is the site so slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww. :(

So its still saying you have one message but you've already "read" all and you don't have any new messages? I know it was doing this earlier as I had the same issue but the programmers fixed and now mine is gone so I am making sure I understand correctly so I can report this still ongoing to the programmers.

Thanks

SophiaDeer posted Wed, 10 May 2006 at 9:58 PM

Yes, I sent myself a memo just to test it. Read and deleted it.

Now it says I have a message when there is none when I go to look.

Thanks.

We also have a message but nothing there. Also, the old method allowed us to click on username of sender and it took us to their homepage ... the new method allows only the reply to the message with no link to the sender. The old method was very useful because we were able to go to senders gallery, store, etc to make comments or look at products when appropriate. It owuld be most helpful if the new method could allow us to link back to the person sending the message. Carol

Hi romanceworks,

All the things you mentioned in your post will be just like they were when all the pieces convert and everything is in place. Its just a momentary issue which will be resolved:)

So glad:)  Sometimes with change its just a matter of getting used to something different although in this situation because we are in the midst of converting to the PHP things are a little confusing at times. I cannot wait until its all complete and all the pieces are here so that things will flow consistently..

Richardphotos posted Fri, 12 May 2006 at 9:33 PM

it is all well and good but where in the tarnation is the email located? the only way I have found it is when I have had an im. I have looked up and down but do not see a link

Lyne posted Sat, 13 May 2006 at 2:52 AM

I read the new information, looked anxiously at my member options on the side bar, found one that said IM archive...and that was the ONLY link I can see, and used that to get to my message center...where I found all the things I had sent in the past -and posted so unhappily about in the news thread...and of course I deleted them... but ARE THEY GONE?? I mean really gone from your servers, so my privacy is maintained?

So to have privacy, I write a message, send it, and then go delete it from my sent box?

And where/how do I send an IM to someone in a forum thread/posting?? Most forum threads have a IM link near the person's name... I wanted to ask for a IM so I can SEE the new way I am notified, but I can't figure out how to send one to a particular person????

Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!

mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '???' at line 1, occured in query: "select username from member where userid = ???".

okay...I clicked a persons PROFILE...then I hit THE LINK ON YOUR NEW PAGE to send an instant message, and  I got the above!?

so... would  I be sending an e mail or a message IF I was brave enough to even try with the errors?????????

I tried again...and I was at that person's home page...and I got :

The username entered does not exist.

huh??? is it just that I should not bother till your WHOLE site is done and the pieces are hooked up?? or I have to type the EXACT uesr name in and hope for the best?

AARGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Jumpstartme2 posted Sat, 13 May 2006 at 3:10 AM

Here is a screengrab of where the IM/Email is located when you recieve one is, {and where I myself use to link to it...{messaging}

Lyne, try going to the messaging area, then once there, click on 'compose' {if its not already there}
type in your own username {just like it is here, for Im not sure if it is case-sensitive} then send it..then click on the forums page again and you should see a new message where the image I posted is showing it to be.
Let me know if that works :)

StaceyG posted Mon, 15 May 2006 at 6:20 PM

Unfortunately the new site mail is here to stay:(  It will work better and quicker once all the pieces are converted over so that you can just click to send someone a site mail instead of having to put type their username in.   Hopefully you will get used to it and it will become easier for you to use.

Sorry but we can't change it back

Thanks

ARTWITHIN posted Fri, 19 May 2006 at 2:31 PM

I'm getting the same:

Here is what I see on Site Mail when I go to send site mail to someone:

mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '???' at line 1, occured in query: "select username from member where userid = ???".

To:

Please note the "To:" field is blank.  This indicates to me that it is addressed to no one.  I have to manually enter the user name.

Others must be getting the same thing as I am getting nothing but e-mails from people trying to contact me.  No site mail is being used to contact me.

I will have to contact everyone to inform them that I now have their real names and e-mail addresses, and let them know they have to manually enter the username if they want to use Site Mail.

The Site Mail worked until the last 7 days.  If you have any further suggestions or comforting words, I would appreciate them at this point.

I'm not sure what you are saying her Artwithin..When you type someone's username in to send them a site mail you are getting the error message above?  I sent you a test site mail to see if I got an error and I didn't

I may be misunderstanding what you are explaining above, if I am I apologize but could you give me some more details?

Thanks

StaceyG posted Fri, 19 May 2006 at 2:42 PM

I sent you a few site mails using various methods and one showing the Send site mail button. Is this what you are using that gives you the error mentioned above?

Thanks

ARTWITHIN posted Fri, 19 May 2006 at 2:46 PM

Sorry Stacey, I'm on dial up and there are now so many different steps to getting somewhere that it takes me some time to get back to you.

I got the 3 Stie mails.  I saw the button, and that is the one I use that is giving me the error message.

Here are my steps:

I click "Contact", then the "Site Mail" bar, on the "Compose Mail" screen I see the above "mysql error" message and a blank "To: " field.  I have to enter the contact username manually to send the site mail.

Can you let me know if you clicked to send the site mail from the homepage, from the profile here under the avatars, from the Messgaing link at the top, or exactly which path you took, LOL.. It will just help the programmers better isolate the issue.

Thanks again!!

Hi Stacey, I am having this problem too. To try and clarify, I click on a user name in the comments under one of my images; click on 'Use site mail to contact member' and get

mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '???' at line 1, occured in query: "select username from member where userid = ???".

above a blank 'To:' box. I'm using IE6, WinXPsp2.

And as you can see, I'm also getting double lines when hitting .

Hope this helps.

It happens when I use the contact link under a gallery image and then use the Use Site Mail to Contact Member.  I noticed it doesn't  automatically insert the members name using this method.  Must be an issue pulling from the database.

please note it does work when using a member's  profile link  from a forum post. (Under the avatar image)

Just out of curiousity, did both of you try this yesterday late or today?  The programmer and I both went through the path that you two describe above and it did populate the name and neither of us received the SQL error.  Tommy fixed something earlier yesterday I believe is when it was so that is why I'm making sure you both tried this "after" the fix.. Please let me know so we can continue trying to figure this one out:)

Got a new problem Stacey...

I sent a message, then before it is read I deleted it. The person still received it.  What's with that?

I deleted it because it had incorrect info. I wrote a new message, but the old one still got delivered, plus the new one.

If it allows deletion of unread messages, it shouldn't allow them to be read.

Ive never known a sent message to be able to be stopped once its sent..whether or not the person recieving it has read it or not...once its sent, its sent.

I think that feature is more like a 'read receipt' than anything else.

"once it's sent it's sent" is only meaningful if the deletion is not allowed.
phpbb forums allow you to edit or delete private messages that have not yet been read.
The easy way out here is not to allow deletion of unread messages, otherwise the system is misleading/poorly designed.

Our team was finally able to duplicate this problem. We can only get it to happen one way. Please don't think we are just shrugging this off. Tutone spent hours on it yesterday just trying to get the problem to HAPPEN. Here's how we finally got this problem duplicated: - Logged out of the Marketplace server (the one with sitemail) - Went to the community side and went to a member's homepage (such as homepage.ez?Who=williamsn) - Clicked on "Send An Instant Message" - On next page, clicked on "Use Site Mail to Contact Member" - It asked us to log in since we were now on the Marketplace server - After logging in, it took us to the Marketplace homepage - We hit the "Back" button to go back to homepage.ez. - We clicked on "Use Site Mail to Contact Member" again - We got the SQL error you are referring to If this is what you are doing, you should know that hitting the back button after logging into a site is always bound to give you errors. After logging in, you should click on "Messaging" and then simply type in the user name in the compose message form. Or, return to his homepage WITHOUT hitting the back button and click on "Use Site Mail to Contact Member" again. Nicholas

Hi Nicholas,

First of all, I certainly don't think you're shrugging anything off here - I know how difficult it can be to duplicate a problem in order to fix it and I don't envy you guys!

Anyway, this is how I can make it happen:

Rosity front page,

In the drop-down 'Member Options' choose 'My Gallery',

Click on an image,

Click on a user name who has left a comment,

Click on 'Use Site Mail to Contact Member',

and I get the above error.

No back-buttons anywhere.

Graeme.

Hi Nic, same name as before 'ScrumpyJack' , the image (from my gallery) is 'Global Warning'. His message starts: 'great work, but I would have left the water out . . .' .  As I said before, feel free to 'test message' him, he doesn't mind if it helps you to sort this out.

The send message works ok if I click on the profile link below a members name here in the forum. But if I am in the gallery it open up to the email message page. Even if I am at there homepage and click on "Send An Instant Message" it opens the same "Send Email to Member" page. "Send An Instant Message" link http://www.renderosity.com/members.ez?Who=hewee#sendim "Send Email to Member" link http://www.renderosity.com/members.ez?Who=hewee#sendemail They are both the same page but the "Send Email to Member" link just open the same page but scrolls down the page some so you do not see "Use site mail to contact member" or what is above. Was going to post the link I get from clicking on profile below my name in the forum because it seems to open up the site message box ok. But my stats say... User has 39 posts. His or her last post was 2006-04-06 20:19:02. I can not find any of them. Clicking on the "view user's posts" just brings up a search page and even doing a search of my name comes up with nothing. Looks like you have deleted all my post in this forum because the oldest one I see is dated 2006 Apr 18 5:49 am.

When I try to read my new messages I get a page that tells me I need to subscribe to "Site Mail" (for $199.00!!!).  I can't get past that page to read my messages.  What's up???

I've been getting Error

Object not found! Error 404

trying to get to my email notifications from renderosity that posts have been made by my favorite artists?????
It dawned on me to insert "excalibur." in front of the address and presto it now works!

ie:

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1239693

should be

http://excalibur.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1239693

It WORKS!

No, I just clicked on the first link (http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1239693) and it works fine as well (as it should because the galleries and forums have been moved to the www.renderosity.com address). Make sure your cache is clear and that you have restarted your browser. N

Hi

I have some troubles in the forums.. when i view a message... and check the bottom of the page

It says errors on page..

Then i refresh the page "that takes a longer then the initial page load" the site seems to have troubles loading "internal ccs" or something like that ..when the loading slowsss down to an almost full stop thats whats being loaded ....

I can type when the "error pn page" message is there...  and i cant do anything until i refresh.

Well, i now wanted to read the story about the new site mail provided in the link in the beginning of this thread. All i got is this: ######################### Not Found The requested URL /index.ez was not found on this server. Apache/2.0.52 (CentOS) Server at www.renderosity.com Port 80 ######################### Does this mean there is no story behind that? Or that it is so old that it is not from any interest anymore? However, all i can say that i do not get any note anywhere - on any page at Renderosity. I have to go through "Site mail/inbox" to see wether i do have a message or not. Not really better than before i would say. I as well get only now and then email notifications that someone posted in the forum i watch - Vue forum btw. I as well get only now and then - two times only so far - an email notification about the posting of someone out of my favourite artist list. And i found more than those two images i am informed about myself. Since today as well the old link to the Vue forum i have bookmarked long time ago ends on a "page not found" as well. Wouldn't it be just a little more user friendly to give a little more information there? And keep those old pages with the information "page has moved..." for some days? I would have loved to see this really. Result of all this? I have not touched the Marketplace pages since weeks - no interest anymore, i can imagine how much difficulties i would face there. When trying to buy something. All things where my credit card information is involved in i am VERY touchy and right now there are too many unclear issues on this site here. So i buy things somewhere else.

No answer on that still? what is going on with the site mail? By accident i found a message today in my inbox - after i went to "site mail/inbox" manually. No motification anywhere, not here at Renderosity sites nor by email. Is it planned to be like that? Is it a bug? Is it recognised by the developer team? Is anybody home?

There are several threads in this forum regarding the ebot issue. We are still looking into this.

As far as the Site Mail is concerned, if you have any new message you should see in the far right hand side a link that says "YOU HAVE 1 NEW MESSAGE" is this where you are looking as the location for the notification is changed.

I am sending you a site mail so you can tell me if you see the message notification right now I'll send

Got it Stacey. Thanks for it. Reason why i have not seen this? I have all the links on my right side so that i do not have to scroll horizontally to see the content - on a small laptop. Therefore this area is simply outside my window normally. Sorry to cause actions without real need.

When I click on the link http://www.renderosity.com/index.ez?viewStory=13047 , I get the dreaded "Page cannot be found" message.  I've tried several times - always with the same result.   Help?

Linda
