I asked this over in the poser forum as I know a lot of them print their work but I want to ask here too.  I wan tto take a VUE picture I created and have it printed and matted.  Can any of you suggest a place to do that?  any kind of prep work needed?  1600/1200 ok for size?  Kinkos?

I would go to an on-line printer 1st over using Kinkos.  Try www.Mpix.com.  I like their metalic paper - makes the colors look really sharp.  Prices are good too.  There are tons of other on-line digital print shops.  I found Mpix through a photography magazine. 

If you are going for print, render your image between 200 and 300 dpi (more is better).  For example, you want the print to be 8x10, then render 1600x 2000 minimum.  In your photo editor program, resize the print to 8x10x200 dpi and save as a tiff image.  That is the image you should send to the printer.

For print, I think you need to render at around 250 dpi, render size depends on the size tou want it printed. Vue lets you decide in  pixels, as well as inches and cm in the render dialog box. As for the place to do it, depends on where you live. What I would do, is give a small size render to print and see how it looks, so it won't cost too much if you need to make some postwork on it if it doesn't look good enough.

Just for an FYI..most commercial printers will not print over 300dpi

Also, I took an image 1024x768 to kinkos and had a test print done..what I got was a 11x14 image, that barely had any jaggies...so I learned to always render BIG LOL
