...and can't figure out how to do it. DUH!
It's a long time since I checked in to R'osity, and I found an old message telling me that the link to my (one and only) freebie wasn't working. My website host has banned downloading from offsite links, so I need to direct downloaders to a page on my site in order for them to download the zip.
Is there a way to do this? It seems that linking directly to the file is the only available option in the Free Stuff area. Does this not prevent a lot of people from offering free stuff?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I can say welcome back! (It has been a while!)

You are allowed to link to a webpage from freestuff, as long as the download is on that page (from memory). Also from memory, there should be an edit option for your freestuff items.
Found it - Go to the community side of the site, then select "My Freestuff" from the Member Options dropbox. You should be able to fix the link from there.
Come visit us at RenderGods.

Hi, How you doing, been a long time no see.
I have been using Savefile.com for my freebies just lately, seems to work quite well, and it's free.

Hello Incarnadine and Chohole :) Long time since I visited, and long time since I used Bryce.
Will change the link to the webpage...

Hello Pog! Lovely to see you again! How's your daughter's singing career going? I hope all is well with you both.
pogmahone posted Wed, 07 June 2006 at 5:16 PM
I've fixed the link now, it leads to the web-page rather than the file.
Thanks for enquiring about daughter #2, danamo. What a great memory you have! She's just about to start recording her second album, and has some of the demos on her myspace page

I haven't had time to do any brycing lately, but would love to get into it again.
Incarnadine posted Wed, 07 June 2006 at 8:52 PM
Even if you don't have time to bryce, drop in every now and then and say hello! BTW glad to hear she is onto second album, that says the first was successful!

Hello again :)
Couple of questions. I've been doing a little bit of messing around, trying to get my hand back in, and made this palm tree with a triple trunk. Not sure if it's worth uploading, so that's my first question - is it worth putting in free stuff?
My second question is about this Joshua Tree - lol - did I make this myself, or did I download it from freestuff? If I made it myself, does anyone else want it? If so, I'll upload it to freestuff as well.

Sorry, I missed this earlier in the fun with the new galleries. Are these terrain objects with tree veg added? Curious as to the technique?

No, I made the trunks in Wings, and imported them as objs. Then added foliage from the tree lab.
hmmnnn...did a big hunt through my folders, and found the Wings file for the Joshua tree, so it looks like I made it myself after all. Wish I had a functioning memory!

OK, I've tweaked the trees to look a bit better and uploaded to free stuff, so hopefully they'll be live in 48 hours.

Tree-trunks are really easy to make in Wings (and a way for me to keep my hand in with modelling, which I've abandoned in recent months). So if anyone comes across a picture of a tree that they'd particularly like just message me with a link to the url, or post the pic in this thread, and I'll do my best to model it.
The trees can be ungrouped, so you can use the trunks with different foliage if you like.
:)

Thanks for the pics chohole.
Maybe I'll do a pack of 5 or 6 different tree-trunks, then people can add their own foliage?
pogmahone posted Mon, 19 June 2006 at 2:48 AM
chohole - I've submitted an oak tree trunk to Free Stuff, so it should appear within the next 48 hours. You can add your own foliage....
