That "Hot 20" was a farce. I think they should leave it out.

they should definately leave it gone..
and I also like how it doesn't display number of comments under the thumbnail.. hopefully this will decrease the feeling of alot of ppl "hunting" comments just for the comments sake, and not what the comment actually says

Ugh, some people in this thread abused that system as much as anybody. Merchants knew how much visibility the hot 20 got, so they'd give their products away free to hot 20 regulars, and they in turn would turn their posts into informercials for the product. I don't really have a problem with this capitalism, but don't turn around and talk to us about Community and Artistic Spirit.

I just tried for a joke to see who the latest and greatest populars were this year, I do look once a year, and noticed the Top 20 was gone. The best thing that has happened since all this conversion/change.
So we know it wont last long. It will be back.

Art Charts: These will include favorite artists, vendor credits and images. This interactive feature will replace the stale Hot20 system. The information will be gathered from member's favorites lists, found in the “My Favorites” link.
They might make it harder to manipulate the Art Charts than the Hot20 for a while but if the people that wanted to vote to only make the Hot20 a popularity contest want to, they'll figure out how to do it again.
I'm not sure how they are going to calculate it this time but it looks like it's going to be based on more factors than just a vote so it'll probably take them more time to.
They switched the views and comments to a mouseover on each thumbnail so you can't tell at a glance how many each image got, I'm not sure if that system is better or worse, but overall the new galleries does give more info, whether or not that info is useful is hard to tell at this point.
From the comments I've seen on it so far the majority of opinions are "That it's going to take a lot of getting used to" I agree with that and will wait and see what the members do with it.

I think the mouse roll over idea is a brilliant one. As I used to feel that I was being influenced to view a certain image because it had alot of comments, etc..displayed under the thumbnail.

So, what difference does it make if the info is on a mouse roll over or is displayed under the thumb. Besides more code. Great improvement there.
Art Charts, so that's what they call it now. Agreed, it won't take long for them to find a way to get around it. Think how many threads will get posted about Art Charts before the community catches on that it is just a new name for Top 20.
