Hi, Hope all are fine ....... I am mailing here with a altogether different purpose!! I want some advice from experts here who are from USA or knows SCAD ( Savannah College of Art & Design ). (www.scad.edu) I am from India and have been chosen for BFA - VFX/Animation for fall,2006 at SCAD. I had been awarded a artistic honors scholarship of $5,000/yr , based on my art excellence at my portfolio that I sent to them. But as it was low for me I sent them a additional portfolio....upon which they have increased my schol to $10,000/yr... this is renewable through the 4 years.. Now thing is that after attending the school for 6 months I can again apply for continuing scholarship , based on my need and my portfolio work and can get a maximum of $8,000/yr ( as continuing schol ) and that wd be added to the present scholarship. I give you below a estimation of i yr expense at the school : Tuition Fee : $ 22,950 ( 3 quarters) Mat Fee : $ 500 ( one time payment for registration) Housing : $ 6,600 ( 3 quarters) Meal Plan : $ 3,345 (3 quarters) Insurance Coverage : $ 695 (3 quarters) Personal Expense : $ 1,500 ( 1 academic year ) Books / Supplies : $ 1,500 ( 1 academic year) Total : $ 37,090 For the 1st year I can pay the additional amount by taking a eduactional loan from my country ( India) in the name of my dad. But from the next year i wd have a additional amount to be paid thats $ 19,090 even if I get the 8,000 as continuing scholarship. It has been a long statement . I am so sorry for that . I have 3 questions for you : a) SCAD told me that their students usually get $2500/month or above after passing out as a BFA . How good is the market in USA for fresher VFX artist / animator ? b) Can you advice me something , how can i arrange for $19,090 / yr in usa ? after workingin campus and in vaccations !! as working on campus wont give me that much money !! Is there any chance I can sign any bond with any company who pays my money ... I put the question here as I have no friends in USA , who can answer me..... Hope some one can give me a proper guidence !! Thanks amlan70

Wow! Thats great for you! I can't really help with any questions you have, but my daughter was accepted there but she got a better scholarship at Cornell univ and ended up going there instead. So its a good school for the arts and the area is nice I believe. I hope things work out for you. About the money, not sure what kinds of loans they have for foreign students but its something to look into. Most American students go heavily into debt thru college and dig their way out afterwards.
