I clicked my link for rendo...a page came up telling me if I want the old forum to goto camelot.renderosity.com.
What is that?

this whole place is getting pretty strange. Not sure what to think anymore

Dave,

Not sure what's happening but it looks liek the more they try to fix something, the more the place gets screwed up. Most links don't work. You go to the market place and you get thumbnails but click on a product and you get an error page because it's wanting to go to www.renderosity.com instead of market.renderosity.com. These links use to be correct before they did the gallery switch..they should have left well enough alone.

Hey, I'm getting the same thing.  I'm using Firefox, and when I click on my Bookmark tab it tells me that their index is out - or some kind of message.  When I key in www.renderosity.com, it gives me the page that tells me.

Something old, something new...  Can't wait 'til it's all settled.

I clicked my bookmark and it gave me a page not found error.  I typed removed part of the link to leave  http://renderosity.com  and was taken to the MP page (which I still cannot view all of the thumbnails). I had to click "Forums" at the top and make a new bookmark.

Hell I didn't even get that. All I got when I clicked my bookmarked link was an error page. I found my here because I was searching for some materials for Poser 6 and found a vendor who is linked to the MP here.

I'm not getting anywhere, I click on the marketplace and it takes me to a blank page, there are links running down the length of the left side but nothing works. Maybe I'll save some money if it stays down for a while, or I might just spend it at another site...

Yesterday they were moving servers to try and fix the slowness.  Maybe it has something to do with that?

You can't get to anyone's homepage when you click their profile.  Clicking the homepage link gives a 404 error

it might also be "echelon" (no such agency's software) screwing things up:lol: oops, did I say that? here come the black helicopters

KarenJ posted Fri, 16 June 2006 at 1:55 AM

LOL Miss Nancy...

Yesterday I understand they put a new server (camelot) in the mix because excalibur couldn't handle the load of both galleries and forums.

So things were being switched about from one to another, causing some very strange error messages, placeholder messages (like the one above) and general slowness.

Cross fingers it seems okay to me this morning, but it remains to be seen how it will run today once the americans all come online...

In french  "camelote" means  "cheap junk".
That's what it looks like.

Acadia posted Fri, 16 June 2006 at 2:39 AM

Give them some time, they are working on it.   It would be better if they worked on a dummy site before implementing things here, but at least they are pretty quick to fix the bugs that appear and they do listen to us IE:  search by user name was given back to us.

It's frustrating for us now, but like most things in life, it will come together.  In the meantime grab some popcorn and a beer and kick back and watch Lord of the Rings!!!

goes off to get my  Viggo fix   LOL

For the record, I get the same message as posted above when I click to respond to ebots as well.

This is bad!!!!

ARGHHH! Just bring the old website back! This is really frustrating!! It took me four trials to finally get to this page! Not happy...

PointLady posted Fri, 16 June 2006 at 4:42 AM

Well I have experienced the clicking on my shortcut to Renderosity and only kept coming up with a SQL message first and could not get in.  It was only till a friend of mine came oline tonight on MSM and I mentioned it and she said she found the Camelot link elsewhere, sent it to me, but that came up as an error, so I typed rendo's URL in my browser and got the page everyone else up above mentioned, so got here.  What is going on, do we have to delete our old link to here and create a new one or what.

I live in Australia by the way, at it is Friday evening here, so how many people around the world would be very frustrated by now not being able to get in and just think Rendo was down or something - this will hurt them in Sales, for who would be game to buy anything at the moment, I know I am not until all these NEW changes have been stabilised.

Just hope they get it all sorted out and let people know, for this day to day change is not good. Jan

Would it be possible to disable the ebots until this mess is fixed? They aren't working anyway.

drifterlee posted Fri, 16 June 2006 at 9:51 AM

Well, I'm a Yank and last night (I believe we are six or seven hours behind the UK)  at around 11 pm EST US, the whole site looked like the screen shot Miss Nancy posted. I especially loved the "Welcome to my Site" at the LH top of page. Very professional. One thing I believe we might keep in mind is that someone at Bondware, I think, is doing the actual programming in this lovely, trendy PHP. The poor admins at RR can't fix this. The excalibur and camelot names in the URL are names of the servers. What I would like to know is why the programmer  hasn't put a SIMPLE REDIRECT so that when you click on www.renderosity.com it takes you straight to camelot. Fire the programmers - the little wet behind the ear college boys who think PHP is the  answer to all problems!!!!! Boil them in oil!!

This is completely bonkers. I am logged in on renderosity.com and market.renderosity.com but can not get into camelot.rendersosity.com. It says my username/password is incorrect???? What??? I have reset and rebooted everything and no joy. I'm with drifterlee on this one, although I'll publicly flog them before boiling them in oil. I am a database developer by profession and for my sins I have also done some web consultancy and development. And the way you do a large setup is to distribute the load over servers dynamically i.e. you are re-routed to servers with the least load at the time. You do not set up different servers requiring different logins. Do you think someone like Apple would set up different servers which you have to log in separately for forum/support/developer program? I'm going to recommend all my clients to use Bondware ... NOT! Sorry for tha rant but had to get it off my chest.... and I'm still locked out of the camelot server. MoonHawk

KarenJ posted Sun, 18 June 2006 at 5:06 AM

MoonHawk have you clicked on the "forgot password" thing when it won't let you into the camelot side?

KarenJ posted Sun, 18 June 2006 at 5:18 AM

OK, can you email admin@renderosity.com and they should be able to do a password reset on both server sides, that should fix it.

that new frontpage is the pits. The only way to get to a forum pulldown menu is to go back to the old frontpage.

why not make them the same?

MoonHawk1966 posted Sun, 18 June 2006 at 9:45 AM

I'm still waiting for a reply from admin. But I tried asking for password to be sent a few more and the third time I got a response. The password was the same as i have been putting in and trying it again did not work. However ... I tried the link that was sent in the e-mail and after a long delay it has logged me in. But I still have to ask the question why does the system require you to log in three times ... once for each server. It is illogical, un-userfriendly and irritating. From my point of view as a programmer it is lazy programming without the user in mind. For someone using the site, they should not have to worry about what server they are on ... it is the same site and the same service to them. But at least I can now happily get on :) Thanks for the help Karen Cheers MoonHawk

MoonHawk1966 posted Wed, 21 June 2006 at 11:56 AM

Well it seems to have sorted itself out. And I have been assured by support that once the servers are settled there will only be one login request for the site, and not one for each server as it is at the moment.

Ardiva posted Wed, 05 July 2006 at 8:34 PM

Things are still messed up especially with the MP. I can click on the MP link up above and get to it just fine...but when I choose to look at a product in detail, it gives me a 404 error.

I just noticed why it does this. The MP is on "market.renderosity.com". The link to product details are still on "renderosity.com" when it should also be on "market.renderosity.com".

Hi Ardiva, this problem is usually caused by an entry in your Hosts file on your PC. Please check the attached link for more details.
