Valou, the cat "portraits" scattered in my gallery are mostly the result of this:   Having the camera at the ready, expecting to need the higher speed if motion of the cat, waiting for the moment and then push the shutter button.  At times, I will use a toy to entertain the cat and when more silent moments arrive with the cat, then I shoot the image.  Flash is used indoors and most of the indoor shots are taken while the cat is relaxed or moving slowly.   I use a bounce flash or flash off- camera to capture the indoor shots.

Yes, these are not easy animals to image.  I am so happy to know you are involved in such work and worthy work.  This last weekend my wife spent time at a festival event and she assisted at the local "Humane Society" booth, providing information and entertainment for the welfare of abandoned animals.

While some believe cats not to be intelligent, I attest to the magnificient thoughts of these animals.  Certainly, the personality of the cat is different from the "recognize me" personality of many people.  Cats are trained and learn quickly when proper technique is employed.  I believe the cat may often train the human, first.

Blessings in such work.                 Tom.

From the gallery images you are displaying and the association you have with this animal shelter, I think you should give them a presentation, so they can use your photos.
Perhaps in thier newsletter or magazine. Plus the website.
It is good you have this studio for use.
 A good day to you

Thank you Douglas, it's true, i have a very good friend and they are like me for the mentality ith the animal.. We cannot to adop all the animal, but all people can to give something.....

TwoPynts: I know your problems at the time of doing photos to these animals. I am going to give you an advice. You must to play with them during a lot of time (1 hour for example), this way at least, they are calmer and you can work without having the crazy head. Later, to contribute to the education of these animals, you have that give them a gift ( food) whenever they remain still for the photos. You are going to see the result is incredible... In the studio, we use only the big tripods of lights but we put a cloth of color meat, because the umbrella (or mask - I don't know ihow is called in english but he have the umbrella form-)  is too white and a filter of color would not be the best thing to obtain the alive colors of the eyes of cats.

I am very happy to know that your wife collaborates in these charitable acts. I also take part but to my way. Whenever the associacion gives me the animals, I give a money on the other hand. Later, the whole year took part doing the photos to put it in Internet, that helps to that the people can to choice  them... I occupe the section cat and small dog, because the big dog give me a litlle panic...

Well, Thank you for you two....

Hugs
