It seems to be working. I saw one of my images already resized (looks better than before), and the options for choosing to display and to see at full-sized seem to be working. I've also gone back through some of my gallery and edited the image setting on the larger images, even though most of them have not yet been converted.
Despite what I felt was an initial bad decision, you have responded quickly and adeptly. Kudos to you and your team.

It's minorly obnoxious that the default on old images is "Show Resized" so I have to go back through my gallery and set every single one, BUT that's pretty trivial and I can deal with it. :) I'll have some dead time one of these days.

As far as I can tell, the new gallery features work fine with my altered CSS. The resized images display properly (resized); the full-sized images display properly (full). Plus the artist notes are still in the middle instead of off to the side. Yay. I'll leave it in there and report any problems.
Perhaps it's churlish to say so, but I'm a little disappointed that the default viewer option is for resized images - for a couple of reasons. A lot of viewers may never be aware that they have an option, and they'll always see the resized pic and may never know better. It just seems correct for the default viewer option to be "artist preference".
But hey, that's small potatoes next to a great big juicy steak.
just been through my gallery and resized all my piccies!!! all work fine!!!! and altered my options to allways show full size!!!! so thanks guys!!! my gallery works fine!!!YIPPPPPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!! i see also that you have added a new stat -how many times viewed full size-cool it was nice to know that everyone(but one) did the extra click to see my latest piccy full-size!!!!!!!! I'm wearing my "happy member" badge again now!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for implementing this so quickly and smoothly...adding the option to disable the pop-ups over the thumbnails was a really pleasant surprise, too...thanks for listening!! Nicely done folks!
I'm also really happy you made a separate & prominent thread here in the forums...quickly getting the word out about these new viewing options is fantastic...newsletter & frontpage stories are a good idea, too, since so many members never visit the forums...
Excellent work and greatly appreciated!! :thumbupboth:

As I said in my thank you post, you know the resized images don't bother me so much anymore (even though all of my stuff will be set to Full Size) because they don't look terrible. I mean, have you looked at the new ones? They look GOOD. I don't have to hang my head in shame when someone comes by and looks at it without taking the time to "zoom in".
I always make my renders at the highest resolution my computer will handle (or sometimes not handle, he he) because I'm an absolute detail freak. I want to see the tiniest freckle or strand of hair. 99.5% of the time my renders are too big for the filesize limit, so I painstakingly shrink and compress the image to get the optimal image under 512KB. The fact that the new resized images hold up superbly next to the upload version from what I've seen. When you go smaller you'll always lose some detail, but at the least the pictures aren't butchered anymore.
So now, when someone clicks a thumbnail, they will always see a good quality image, even if it's resized. If they want all the detail that was originally uploaded, they can click zoom in. And for my gallery, you can click the link to my website for the super ridculously hi-res ubër-detailed images that can't fit under Rendo's file size limit. :) It's all about options, and they gave them to us.

I just noticed the change when I got home and anxiously scurried to my Option page to play with the new goodies. Very nice indeed, and the popup killer is a great touch, as well! I, for one, won't be noticing any problems with the resized images as I'm going for full size on everything. I even went through each image in my gallery (luckily only 48 of them) and checked the full size option, took off camera settings, and fixed some formatting problems with the text in some of my posts.
I'm also still running a custom script and everything is running just fine! Oh man, I must be dreaming or something! WooHoo! Thanks so much for the info and a great job on the new galleries which now offer something for all us with Options. :thumbupboth:
All working just perfect! , now we have a 5 stars gallery!
All the flavors served , it can't be better, and looking at the new resized images, i think that is unnecesary to reset the old ones, i can live with them that way :)
Cheers

If it looks as mere real life, then it don't worth the effort.
Hi all,
im having to log in each time with my username & password-seems it cant remember it-is it me or is there some way of making it remember them??
Also i wonder about :"delete gallery"....my cusser dissapears after a bit of idle time..what if it was on that link?? would all be gone in a BLINK of horror? (some might be relieved) hehe.
thanks- i hope this is proper to place here. clydedough
Does anyone know ANYTHING about "Ferryman Fractal" program? Safe? Thanks.
Hi clydedough,
Due to updated requirements by our credit card processors you will need to type your username and password in each time you log in.
The delete gallery button (which we have always had just now its in a different location) if it were to get accidentally pushed doesn't automatically delete, a box would pop up asking if you are sure you want to delete you gallery so have no fear, it will not just automatically delete:)
sounds like it could be all done by sunday then!!!!!!! don't forget to stick a flag in the ground when you get there!!! "..one small step for man......." oh! somene already did that speech didn't they!! it sounds like williamsn is in a little probe flying through the galleries mending stuff!!! like that "inner space" movie!!!!!!!!!!

I hope he fixes it so that our user id's and gallery stats aren't being made public like they seem to be now :(

Geez what a mess.
I came here on a whim, and it's all change, not only that when I turn on javascript, the page crawls on reload. I supsect this is a "Code for IE" issue, is it supposed to look like this? It's shrunk, now all the text is bunched up in a column down the center of the screen, I'm running @1600x1200
So much for the glory days ;)
I'm so pleased I can choose between full and reduced sizes now - thanks to the Rendro team for working to make that possible for us :thumbupboth:
What I'm finding now though, is that if I change an image to full size, any text I added is bunched up into a very small coloum at the side of the upload details and statistics. There is over half a page width of space in the detail and stat box which is just empty. Could the situation no be reversed, so that more space is given to what the artist wishes to write - I think stats etc are far less important and a waste of space.
Perhaps this is already something still being worked on. Could someone fill me in?

If you check out the resizing CSS I did, that takes care of that particular layout problem. I've tried the newly-revised new galleries in conjunction with the CSS, with all viewing options and with Internet Explorer and Firefox - it works fine. The artist's notes are almost central in relation to the image, and the details box is off to the right.
Lol WOW. Okay wanna hear something funny? So I'm on the phone with my girlfriend tonight and I start singing a theme song from an old BP Express commercial. Don't know HOW it came to mind but it did. Anyway, she's like "what the HECK!?" I said "You've never heard that before?" She said "No? What's it from?" I said "It's from an old BP commercial. Boy does that date me or WHAT? I'm getting OLD." She was silent for a few seconds. "Nicholas?" "Yes?" "I"m two years OLDER than you ... how does that work that it dates YOU and not ME???" ROTFL. crickets Okay so maybe that wasn't funny. It's late. I'm trying to fix eBots. Lol.

There are a couple things you should keep in mind in regards to the resizing options issue in process. First, the new settings will be immediately applied to all new images upon upload. So every image uploaded after the galleries come back up will be fine. Secondly, however, and most importantly, is the application of this policy to all images retroactively. We will begin running the conversion script immediately upon the galleries coming down. However, it is going to take SEVERAL DAYS for this script to cover every image in the database. Because of this 1) we are running the script backwards to minimize inconvenience (newest images will be converted before older images) and 2) for a period of several days, you will notice your older images may appear broken. Please do NOT let this alarm you. As the script progresses, less and less images will appear broken, and they will be older and older images. When the script is finished, everything will be fine.
We appreciate your patience and support during this transition and we will keep you updated as things progress.
Sincerely,
Renderosity Admins
