Hi Mark-

This is a render by Mobius in Lightwave- Polygons "turned on" an with an ambient occlusion shader.

Can polygons be "turned on" in Carrara- and/or does this above efx require one of the Digital Carver's Guild plug-ins maybe?

Veritas777,

Toxe had done several images like this , check out his gallery .  Here is a link to one of his images. His paper renders looks much like this and I think he used just GI and NPR but not sure.

Hi Veritas, You can fuss with settings in Toon III that comes with Carrara (there are "softer" settings). It's just that ToonPro and Wireframe Pro does a better job. The other way with NPR is just to make sure that the Diffuse layer is clipped to the object with lines selected - but that won't give ambient effects. Mark

Mark and mmoir-

Thanks for the posts and the examples! This gives me some further ideas to explore for some images I'm working on. Davide sent me some really nice NPR brushes- but none of them relate at all to the images in his art gallery.

The combination of Toon/NPR with GI and/or ambient occlusion is a really nice effect...

Wireframe Pro is great for that.  Just model in quads so you don't get diagonal lines showing on your walls and cabinet doors.

This is a quick and dirty render using the wireframe render on C5.  I inverted the image, then set the layer above the other in Overlay mode.  It's not quality, but it does work... to a degree.
