Subject: Help on this photograph!

Hello, I need a lot of help with this photo. This is the wedding on my folks, my mom hates the picture because she is wearing black. I tried to change her dress to white or grey with awful results. Could someone give it a try and tell me the procedure? I would really appreciate it.

I used a curves layer with the dress selected, and I brought the black to almost white and the white to even whiter, and I used a levels layer with the same selection, too. I'll upload screen shots of the curves and levels settings in a bit. Just have to make them first.

The edges in my selection are a little messy, but it's just a quickie to show you what can be done. It's best if you work with a really large file and get the edges to be more precise.
