Subject: Problem with splitting an object to apply new materials - goes wonky

After I import an object and want to change the materials settings I split the object to access the various material zones the object goes out of alignment.  Once I have the new materials assigned I cannot get the object to go back to its original shape.  If I weld it takes on the new shape - what do I need to do to keep the original shape and still be able to apply new materials to it.  Using vue 5 esprit.

Hmmm - have you reported this to technical support at e-on? Seems to me you should. And provide them with the model that shows this - they need things like that to reproduce the thing. But you do not have to split the model to work on the materials. Simply hit F6 and get the material summary window. There you can edit all materials used, even exchange them completely. Without touching the geometry of the model at all.

Thanks so much for prompt response!  Just tried that and it works great.  I didn't report it as I figured it was a new user error lol.
