Attached Link: Photoshop drawing tutorial

I used Photoshop CS2 to create a drawing from a photograph in my gallery and someone asked if I would make a tutorial.  Which I did in the Photoshop forum.  I originally baught Poser for the same purpose.  To aide in my drawings.  The same technique obviously can be used for Poser and other 3d images.  Other layering programs could work as well as Photoshop too.  Just wanted to share with you all.  Let me know if this is helpful, I can make more tutes on similar subjects.

I edited your tutorial link to delete some extra characters. your tutorial appears interesting and useful IMVHO.

Have you tried tracing paper on a photo yet and scanning the traced image?

Enlarge a colour photo on a b/w photocopier. Turn the copy upside down (that way  your brain see's shapes and doesn't say thats a nose)  trace that using a light pencil. Now ink the trace Keep the inner lines nice and thin using a biro, and make the outer lines fat using a marker pen.

Put a a couple of sheets of white paper behind the trace and scan it. (otherwise the scanner lid will show through). Take the scanned image and flip/mirror it so it's the right way around. Next tidy up up any gaps in the lines and marks from the scanner.  

Now repeat for the background but don't ink the images, just a meduim pencil work. In your art software use lighter shades with no lines and theres a

Or if you want  that line drawn style like on dance music albums and ashtrays.  Pose a figure in poser print it to A4 size against a white background then trace and scan the body. Trace/Scan the real head from your photo and composite to size.

Mrsparky.  I've not tried scanned tracings and can see where that can come in handy on many different styles.  especially comic cells and panels.  Great idea!  I used to trace drawings and photos with tracing paper and carbon paper before I had a lightbox.  Of course that is why I got this idea for the tutorial.  I was tracing to learn and develope my style when I was 9 years old ... 40 some years ago.  The reason I'm transfering so much of my drawing techniques to the computer is I have a visual impairment and Photoshop allows me to magnify my work to do details I can  no longer do to my satisfaction using convention drawing and tracing methods.  ( I do have a cctv set up and that helps ... but you can't trace with it because of the bright light).  We can come up with a lot of different techniques on this thread.  Please I welcome all new ideas!!!
