Think I read hundreds post the last days, but couldn't decide which solution is the best for me.
My goal: I want to create comics with excellent rendering/toon shading
Though I use mainly bought objects (Poser), I still need to model stuff myself or to alter the bought models.
And my budget is pretty limited.
Alternative 1: Carrara 5+Toon!Pro
I understood that Carrara 5 has tons of features, can import directly Poser objects (native import) and the output of DCG's Toon!Pro should be excellent and pretty much customizable.
But I am not able to use dynamic clothing. I not sure, but I think latter feature is very important, because the conforming of clothes is time consuming and realisticly folded shirts is only possible w/ dynamic clothing.
Alternative 2: Carrara 5 Pro+Toon!Pro+Poser 6
With this combination I would have Transposer 2, thus importing of dynamic clothes is possible. But I read, that the Toon!Pro rendering has problems (oulining) with Transposer 2 and the integration isn't smooth at all? But again, I just render two times (w/ and w/o outlines) and merge them in Photoshop.
Alternative 2 is expensive and a little clumsy but offers the best (?) quality and all possibilities concerning modeling in an integrated environment.
Alternative 3: Just Poser 6
Poser 6 has a toon renderer (is it good and flexible) and handles dynamic clothes out-of-the-box. But it's slow and I would need an additional modeler.
So that are my three alternatives. I'd like to go with the second one, but it's expensive and I am not sure, if it's really working in the long run. To make one or two pics is fun, to make hundred pages is work.
Maybe you can give me some advice or do you know better tools for doing toons/comics with Poser objects (e.g. C4D w/ body studio or May w/ body studio and so on).
Thanks in advance.

Hmm... the poser 6 with MangaStudio looks sweet. (If I had the chance to rebuy poser I'd take that deal)
But you might want to do some 3D modeling with an app with tools for it
No reason not to use just poser 6, it has toon shaders (you have to assign them to the materials).
I had to compromise with price (So far I use Vue4 D'Esprit for my Backgrounds, truespace 6.6 for my 3d modeling and poser6 for all the characterwork) once I get poser 6 down pat I'll be uploading some works.
I got all my apps through sales/upgrade specials so it was quite convienient! (ALL for Less than $400 US, likely cheaper now)

I just checked the carrara/comics/cartoons gallery here, but didn't see any toon shaders used in recent images. there are some recent toon-shaded images under poser/anime/comics/cartoons, but they don't say what shaders they used, in most cases. it still appears a matter for postwork in photoshop, at least in recent images.

I quite like what C5Pro can do toon wise!!!

You may want to check out the $45 set of toon shaders for Poser 6 sold at RuntimeDNA before you make a decision.

I checked the two links above (they both have the same images as examples). I didn't see any examples of anime-style shading using any standard poser characters (vickie etc.). perhaps I just missed the page where they did toon-style renders of them. I've seen renders of olivier's shaders in an old thread here, but no examples in the gallery (at least recently).
