Spread the Word - Surface, the "complete series" will be out on DVD August 15!  For those of you who love the show (and I know it was either love it or hate it with viewers) this is exciting news!  Universal Studios is putting it out.  One can only hope that sales of the DVD would encourage CBS, or even another network to take over this show and bring it out of "hiatus"!

Of course the first season left us hanging, but if you're a sci-fi fan like I am you're willing to buy the existing series.  (Yes I bought things like Earth 2, and Firefly, which were also canceled prematurely, because I really loved the shows so much!)

It seems to me that they put so much money into the creation of Surface - all the locations, and all of that CGI, that if they felt there was a fan base they would continue the TV show.  After all - little Nim, the baby sea monster was a fully developed CGI creature by the second half of the first season, so all the work is done!  (I still wonder if there's something in the 3-D models I have that I could somehow morph into Nimrod!) :-)

One of the biggest complaints that I read from viewers that were not steadfast fans was that the young boy acted too stupidly...  But I felt for a young "geek" that his acting and the writing for him was fine.  I mean it's like making a judgment on any young person and saying they're acting weird.  There's normally a reason and obviously he felt really isolated, a bit rebellious and like many of us in life he needed not only a pet but something that would make him feel special.

At any rate spread the word and vote with your dollars if you are able and interested!

Thank you,

Lyne

:)

I liked surface also- it was a good show.

The last one I saw was when the tidal wave hit. Kinda bumbed me out that they didn't finish the story.

Well, the 'tidal wave' was the season finale - and by the looks of it, the series finale.

Let's see.  Surface is a science-fiction show.  Who oh who would snatch up all of the Sci-Fi shows and air or continue them? ;)

Science-fiction almost never does very well on the standard channels.  Earth:The Final Conflict, Star Trek:Enterprise, Threshold, Invasion, and a slew of very short-lived series (can't even remember many of them they disappeared so quickly).  We'll have to see how The 4400 runs.
