I have searched these forums AND the e-onsoftware forums and I STILL cannot figure out how to get Jessi from Poser 6 into VUE 5 Infinite. She just simply disappears. Her clothes and props are all there, just no Jessi.
Could someone PLEASE describe to me, step by step, how to get Jessi into VUE 5 Infinite?
Talk slow like I am a dolt please.

Well, we don't swear - of course.
I am not completely sure, but wasn't it something about the original Geometry beeing compressed? As obz and not as obj. Change that and it should be ok (- i hope).
The only question is how. In this i am the idiot here, i simply do not know. But it gives you a direction what to look for.

Are you running the last Vue update? This has been fixed in the last update 5.11
Warangel posted Thu, 20 July 2006 at 12:57 PM
I believe I have the latest. I am at work right now so can't check. When I get back home, where might I download the most recent update please? I am licensed. Can I just get it from E-on?
bruno021 posted Thu, 20 July 2006 at 1:06 PM
Yes, from e-on, it's built 5.11, and it should fix it.
wabe posted Thu, 20 July 2006 at 1:07 PM
Yes, you can get it from e-on. And from e-on only. I don't think there is another place for that.

Ok now I remember... I have VUE 5 Infinite 5.08
I go to the site to login. It won't let me. Asked for my password. It gets sent. Still won't let me. Call VUE's toll free number. No answer. Gets disconnected. Call again. Same thing.
Sorry but that sets me off. I LIKE VUE. I HATE poor customer service.
Any advice now? I can't even login to get the update. /grumble
bruno021 posted Thu, 20 July 2006 at 4:51 PM
The login/password requested is one you gave them. Generally, the login is your e-mail address.
Don't blame e-on if you don't remember your login!
Are you in the US or in Europe? If in Europe, call the Paris office, they're pretty fast & helpful. No toll free though.
Amazing you're still at 5.08
5.08 is about 8 months old...
bruno021 posted Thu, 20 July 2006 at 4:52 PM
Oh, by the way, if you were able to search e-on's forums, then it means you gave the forum your login & password. You can't access their forum without it.
Warangel posted Thu, 20 July 2006 at 5:12 PM
I did the Forgot Password thing. It sent me my password, which I then entered. It still wouldn't log me in. Sooo... I created a new account and got the download.
I have VUE 5.11 now and Poser 6.02
I made a new Poser scene. Brought in Jessie. Saved it as test.pz3
Opened VUE. Said import file. Error: Can't read test.pz3
/cry
bruno021 posted Thu, 20 July 2006 at 5:25 PM
You're sure you didn't save in pzz? Vue can't read compressed poser files I think. I really cab't see why it won't import. If you did save as pz3, then you should open a support ticket at e-on's this is strange stuff.
Warangel posted Thu, 20 July 2006 at 5:32 PM
I made sure I changed that preference. It saves as PZ3, not PZZ. I have ALWAYS had this problem. I might just download the most recent updates to VUE and Poser, then uninstall them completely.
I have read a lot of people who have had issues with this. I wish I knew the answer. I have been working on a great Jessi since the day it came out and can't use her in VUE.
bruno021 posted Thu, 20 July 2006 at 6:05 PM
You should contact e-on's tech support about it, because the new built says it has been fixed. Let them know it hasn't.
Warangel posted Fri, 21 July 2006 at 7:14 AM
Ok, well I tried the disabling binary morph target. I tried the built in python script that uncompresses all resources. I have tried EVERYTHING. Still no Jessi.
Gonna try uninstalling fully then reinstalling. Annoying, but if it works, great. Wish me luck!
bruno021 posted Fri, 21 July 2006 at 8:31 AM
OK, good luck, then!
PS: contact tech support!!!
Warangel posted Fri, 21 July 2006 at 8:55 AM
What is the best way to get in touch with tech support? I tried calling. No answer. Not sure where to post.
bruno021 posted Fri, 21 July 2006 at 9:49 AM
Easy, go to e-on's site, and under "customer care", click on "contact a technician", and follow the steps.
NightVoice posted Fri, 21 July 2006 at 11:02 AM
I have Vue 5 Esprit so I don't know if this applies to V5I, but, in the options menu there is a way to config poser imports. Take a look in there and make sure it is set to the right version of poser and directed to the correct directory. Also I don't know if this still is the case, but you can't be running poser at the same time so make sure poser is fully shut down first.
bruno021 posted Fri, 21 July 2006 at 11:08 AM
You can have Poser & Vue open at the same time. But NightVoice's advice about the path to the poser.exe is something you may want to check. I also forgot to ask ou if this was an animation or a still. If it's a still Jessi, uncheck "quaternion interpolation" and try again.
cspear posted Fri, 21 July 2006 at 11:43 AM
Try this:
place your Jessi character in the scene as normal.
Go the the Misc tab of General Preferences and make sure that "Use external Binary Morph Targets" is unchecked. Optionally, uncheck "Use File Compression".
Save the character with a different name.
Make a new scene, set up the new character and save the PZ3 or PZZ file.
I've never had problems with PZZ in Vue, nor with running Vue and Poser at the same time.
Make sure that the Vue preferences point at the Poser.exe that was used to create the scene (assuming you have more than one version installed).
Good luck!

Now, can someone kindly direct me to where I can learn to:
get rid of those nasty black shadows
improve her skin (looks a little off in VUE)
Thanks for all the wonderful help!

bruno021 posted Sat, 22 July 2006 at 3:18 AM
The shadows might actually be highlights, since Poser uses black for highlight color. You need to tweak Poser materials quite a lot inside Vue to get them better. My advice is to use a granite function for the bump and for variable highlights.
You may want to check out SkinVue2, a python script written by Dburdick, that makes photorealistic skin for Vue5I. You need to be on PC, and it's available for a fee at www.cornucopia3d.com
Warangel posted Sat, 22 July 2006 at 9:22 AM
Will this SkinVue2 work with her grey skin or does it do human textured skin only?
bruno021 posted Sat, 22 July 2006 at 12:15 PM
I wouldn't know, I haven't made that kind of experiment. You can contact Dburdick at www.skinvue.net and ask him.
dburdick posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 5:39 AM
SkinVue will work on any color skin. I'm not sure what's causing the nasty black shadows. Possibly you may need to crank up the GI quality slider in the atmospheres tab.
Warangel posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 7:47 AM
Does SkinVue work with an existing texture? I have made her current textures from scratch and am quite pleased with them. Or does it create textures separately?
I managed to get rid of the black. Also managed to improve some other things, using some tutorials I found here and around the internet.
I am also looking to hire a modeller now. I would like to do some custom clothing for her, and a few other morphs, in case anyone is interested.
bruno021 posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 7:49 AM
SV2 works with existing textures.

Anyone willing to help with the modelling? I am paying.
