I entered the Eclipse Studios animation contest, thought I'd share my entry with you.  This is only the second animation I've done, but I think it turned out very well.  Let me know what you think.

Pretty good.

What software apps did you use?

One critique ( for the moment) I have is that it was difficult to hear the characters talking over the continual background sound.

When I turned up my sound to hear the dialog, all I could hear was louder rumbling of the ship.

Camera work was pretty well done.

Yeah, the recorded dialog was a real problem.  I did the best I could with it, but it still is not good.  I went out today and bought a decent microphone  The sound of the ship helpd to mash the really crappy sound of the dialog.  I may try to re-record the audio with my new mic and and mix that in.  Overall, I think everyhting turned out OK for a newbie animator (3 month and counting).

I primaryily used Poser 6 SR3, but there is a little bit of  Shade 8.5 also.  They say, "Play to your strengths." and editing is my strength.  Hopefuly I'm strong enough to win the contest!

very nice, good job, i would hate to be stationed wherever she is gonna turn up next, again the voice volume needs addressing though.

Well I must say that if you only used Poser and Shade, that is quite good.

I would have assumed you used Mimic or something for lip sync

Looks like your getting a good grasp of key-framing

Did you use another program to splice clips together and sync the audio? (Premiere maybe?)

Most video/audio editing applications like "Premiere" will enable you to lay down the background sound/music on one track and the dialog audio on another track giving you the ability to set different levels for the tracks at different times.

If you are getting serious about this (And it looks like you are) a good Video/Audio editing program is going to be essential for you.

Well done.

Sorry, I thought you were just asking about the CG software.  I used Poser for all character and prop creation.  I used Shade to create the planet and the cityscape.  I used Premiere 6.5 and After Effect 5.5 for editing and SFX.  I used Daz Mimic for dialog poses, and I used The GiIMP 2.1 for Starfield creation and Materials modification.  Sorry I wasn't more clear.  I've only been doing Poser for about 3months, so I'm still learning.  I used a few BVH files for some of the walking sequences and the punching sequence.  Other walk motions I used the walk designer in Poser.  Any small movement I keyframed by hand.

The scene where Kelly touched Zeb on the chest caused me no end of troubles.  That one section took me several nights to get just right!  I have a new appreciateion for the animators that did Shrek and Over the Hedge!
