hi all. i was just reading about the genpet.

its so sad really.  designed to live for  max. 3 yrs.   look how its restrained .. it looks cruel  alltho its  in a sleep state.. looks sore on the skin..:(

i mean, would u ever let ur kids have one? i would not. id rather buy a puppy:

imagine living, , with limited abilities, like, not being able to eat food, or drink water, or even run about  ..etc.. no fur..    just almost helpless:(..  with a tube thru its belly...:( sooo sad:(

whats the world coming to?... i know  that  science and tecnology has come far, so one can manipulate  mammals/animals, even a foetus to make the perfect baby? even food.

i just had to write:P so plz share thoughts  or whutever:)here..  and a question; would you buy a genetically engineered pet? or would u rather have a pet with fur /feathers?

Attached Link: Genpets. real or fake?

This is so fake. How can anyone fall for this? I know we're corrupt and everything, but come on. Read the FAQ's. If you still think they're real, go to snopes and look it up. I did it for you, here's the link.

** just to add, the genpets guy is an interesting artist. Here's a link to more of his stuff, but some is very weird, so be warned.  http://www.brandejs.ca/index.php

Give it time kiddies, the field of bio research has already created chimeras ( part human, part animal). I was reading an article in National Geographic on this subject. Researchers are trying to grow human brain tissue in mice along with genetically engineering mice to produce human sperm and eggs (see article attached link). More and more governments around the world are funding this type of research.

Since when did 1 August become 1 April?

So now we have to be warned about nude animals? I guess I'd better put a flag on this too.![](../../mod/forumpro/art/emoticons/drool.gif)

Next thing will be a mini missile, including nuke head. Question of getting used to it at a young and impressive age. No more Columbine, just "goodbye school".
For science, life is nothing but a secondary effect of matter and as such unimportant. Science needs money, lots of it, and falls into the greedy clutches of economy. For which individuals are a mass that has to be manipulated so that the probable number of consumers increases.
You cannot turn bck the clock, but I don't see this as progress and innovation at all. At the best, it's an oversimplification.

For anyone who's interested:

Website of the artist/sculptor behind genpets. (Whois is a wonderful thing.)

Genpets is believable, because it really isn't that far fetched at this point. Many now may find it morally repugnant, but that kind of revulsion has a way of evaporating. How many of your grandparents would have been repulsed by the idea of teenage girls getting elaborate tattoos? How many of your great-grandparents would have been repulsed by the idea of women indiscrimiately coloring their hair or enlarging their breasts through surgery?

Me, I'm hoping to get that rat-neuron powered toy fighter jet for Christmas. To me the amazing thing is not that they can wire miniature vat-grown rat brains into computers, or teach them to fly fighter planes, but the astonishing accuracy the rat brains achieve when strafing the neighborhood cats with nerf missiles!

I must have an odd sense of humour, the cat in the bottle thing I saw it, never believed it, found it amusing....this one although more disturbing is oddly amusing to me as well. Don't think me cruel, I love animals, often more than humans lol however I just never bought into any of these things as real so.....

As for future reality I'd like to remain in my bubble world where human beings as a whole group would not allow such a thing to happen.....
