tornado touched down in the toronto area, and we were without power for a day (along with 150,000 others). apparently were the lucky ones, some people wont have power for the next 3-5 days. thousands of trees came down, a neighbor's 60 foot pine missed the house and landed 3 feet alongside my mini-armada of fishing and sailboats in the backyard, so i guess we were lucky again.

up the road, lightning struck the SPCA (humane society). it struck the specific building which housed the animals out of several outbuildings that were also on the hill. a fire started, and it completely burned down, and hundreds of animals were burned alive, only 10 survived.

luckily i saved one of them -- i picked up 'bean' from the same humane society just last fall. shed been brought in with severe frostbite - hence the missing tips of her ears. i guess this just goes to show that whenever you think things are bad (i was worried about all the food i was losing when the fridge/freezer defrosted in 35 degree heat) there are some out there that have it a lot worse.
