I'm interested in purchasing some noise reduction software and I'm kind of torn between Noise Ninja and Neat Image. I've tried the demos of both. I like the results from Neat Image slightly more, but I've been informed by someone that a friend of hers had his Mac trashed when he installed Neat Image. I've also been told by someone that Noise Ninja can get some excellent results but I would have to play with the settings and the manual is rather vague about what the settings control. Anyone have any recommendations? Personal experience? Samples?

I´ve only tried out the demo-version of Noise Ninja, but i gotta say i definitly prefered NeatImage. My computer has never crashed because of it, but i´m not on a Mac either. But one thing that i find a bit annoying with NeatImage, is that ever so often when i use it as a plug-in from Photoshop.....it deletes all my palettes as it ships the picture back to PS. Not a biggie since i can just restore palettes, but still quite annoying at times. Good luck with your decision.

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

I've been using Neat Image for a while now and have to say I like the results I got better than what I got using a Noise Ninja demo, though it is a decent program as well. Also, I am on a Mac (a couple actually) and none of mine had problems with it.

Thanks for the input guys. Zacko - Since I'm pretty new to using Photoshop, to problem with the custom palettes won't be much of an issue for me know, but thanks for the heads up when I start using them. gwfa - I love your Nina images. It's hard to tell that you had to de-noise the image. I may have some other questions for you about how you shoot. As you can tell by my most recent galley postings, I'm starting to do some similiar type photography. girsempa - Thanks for the link and the reviews were an interesting read. TwoPynts - Thanks. Good to know that Neat Image has not caused problems on the Mac. Still is going to be a hard decision.

This may help...if you keep the images under 1024 for web use, the free version of Neat Image works just fine. I used to do that before I sprang for the full version. Whichever way you go, good luck! ~Kort
