Attached Link: Underwater series
I'm putting together an underwater scene with a torpedo running and looking for ways to do the 3D torpedo wake in either Carrara 5 Pro or Poser 6. My intial attempt in Poser was a smoke object turned horizontal. This sort of worked but will need several replications for a substantial wake. It seems like a volumetric solution would be better. I'd like some twists and turns in the wake and it will be fairly long. Any suggestions? Thanks.(This is for the continuation of the series linked.)

I would think a Particle object that you then animate it's motion with the particles being bubbles and have them set to 'Free' would work out. Give them plenty of 'Life' so that they survive long enough to work, and set them to have a slight negative 'Z' gravity setting so that they float up in the water.
As far as a wake on the surface, LOTS of people have tried many different methods to create a wake. The best that I know of involves creating a 2d video, then using it as a displacement map on the surface of your water.
Let us all know how it all works out for you!

Thanks, blue. I think your suggestion will work. I don't expect the wakes will be a significant part of the render, but sometimes that attention to detail makes gives a much better result. Looks like I have some experimantation in front of me.
