I've posted a test image in the bryce gallery - soft shadows without clusters of lights.

HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS BEFORE???

Clever stuff, Steve.

It's not fully accurate because there's no gradation of the softness with distance from the object, but it's still a useful trick.

now crazy as it might sound that's more true to the term "soft shadow" then bryce's soft shadows :tongue1: (bryce's soft shadows should be called area shadows)

Neat trick. I find the clustered lights are nto allthogether that slow so I usually opt for that option. Also I made a few different rigs they are jut a mousclick away for me.
