First, thanks to all those that viewed and commented on my last upload...it is very much appreciated and I'm glad some of you enjoyed it!

Second, as some have asked, a little background story on the photo....I cross these tracks several times a week and the rail is used very infrequently.  One of the problems I ran into was that the sun sets in that particular position over the tracks for only a short period at the beginning of June and then again around the beginning of July.  In between that time the sun is too high when it's visible over the length of the tracks.  The ONLY day that had clouds partially obscuring the sun at that time was July 5th...pretty much clear sky for the other remaining days in my "window" of opportunity.  So, in essence, I was lucky!  For interest, right now the sun already sets slightly to the left of the tracks so the photo opportunity will have to wait until next year.

Third, some technical comments for those that asked....This is a SINGLE exposure!  It is not a merge of different foreground and sky photos.  The image was shot in RAW mode, the foreground was brightened by 2 stops in Nikon Capture. Further post processing included noise attenuation, selected curve adjustment, cropping, sharpening and frame addition.

I hope this will convince some of you who have not yet done so, to try shooting in RAW mode as it opens up many more possibilities with your images.

Again, thanks for your kind comments!

PS; For those that complained about the small size....sorry, too much image theft already.

Thanks for the explanation...I should have read the other comments...anyways, this info on RAW intrigues me...I have been contemplating shooting in this mode for quite some time...now that memory cards are more affordable I will definitely do so...thanks for the inspiration!
