Just soemthing I have been cooking up latley. Trying to get my head modeling down a bit better. This is if you can't tell Lee Marvin. Pure Wings so far.

No critiques from me modelling-wise, looks at first glance as a nice topology.

Excuse my ignorance, but who is the character you are referring to?

still hooked to real life and enjoying the siesta!

A classic actor did soem westerns but mostly WW2 films in the 50's 50's and 70's. Still mor eto go but the likeness is there at least to me. I did a number of heads and tried to get a likeness and it was not showing up. Here he is a bit older but dressed for his usual roles. I am up in teh air as to how old to model him. Just shaping his face now. Nice site and work you have.

he also did a few comedy films like cat ballou. a great actor by many standards.

nice model dano. i think a longer face would halp and the cheeks more sunken and nearer the nose. nose a little longer and more rounded. love the hair. my comment doesn't mean i think i can do any better lol. i can't.

Thanks the cheeks probably need to come in a bit. The head is closer than you think I need to get a proper render up one has no perspective and the other too much. I am using a pic of him really young from the 50's as a ref. This is about 3 hours work or so.

One of those perspective things. Her eI have a longer lense n bryce for my render. I did bring in the cheeks a bit and added a collar and tie. Work on it more later.

Yeah trying a new meathod in soem repects. The cleb heads I tried before I used a front shot and a side shot and tried very hard tomatch them. Thsi si mroe of an artist approach just have the pictures in my workarea to view and then model and eyeball everything. I like this meathod better in that I see mroe recognition in the face than I did before. It does tend to be a bit of a chracture though. (characture is cool to me but it is not realism) I need to download soem better pics and solve some issues on his forhead. and get into detailing the cheeks. The hair is simple extracted from the head and then shaped into a flatop works here.

hi danno.

i tend  to use the double plane approach to get the basics then i delete the planes and work to a portfolio of pics on another machine so that i'm not swapping screens all the time. what i have found is that no matter how much i do, i can always find more to do lmao.  i also realised that useing a plane doesn't always give a true representation. the pic only has to be a little slanted on the vertical and you end up with trying to achieve the impossible, i spent hours on the the nose where it meets the top of the lip to no avail.  it was only when i realized that length and  depth change as its tilted forward or back that i was able to let go with trying to perfectly match the pic.

Did more work on him played with his forhead getting that a bit more normal. Billy I did do a few rough things with the side and front views. eyeshape headshape but trying to match them up perfectly often has poor results. I read this on the net and I remember it now. Do you know Lee Marvin has a gold record? From the musical Paint Your Wagon. It was actually a cool song. I was Born under a Wandering Star. In that film both Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood sing songs!!!

hi danno.

i can't spot any changes cos of  the lines hehe. i like the model though.  i remember the song well but forgot all about clint being in it. i seem to recall jane fonda being the centre of attention. the best scenes for involved les's drunken white horse that used to lean on the wall and stand crossed legged lmao

Well some more work on him now. Did soem texturing really lack the resources of the expensive programs but I find soem workarounds like trans masks and textures that go to spec bump and diffuse channels. I remember clint and Lee were partners and they cam upon a mormon bigamist who had to many wives so they took one and fought over her. Clint sang a song too but his was bad. Lee's voice while not good was cool like a low register Willie Neslson.

Maybe we can point out the only movie besides Star Wars that had Mark Hammel in that did not suck was the big Red One with of course Lee Marvin.
