Hi people! I am very new at this. I'm 60 and sometimes I'm as thick as a brick. I have just got Poser 6, and that's great but, I was given a whole lot of poser4 files (characters, Poses, etc)and the Poser 6 won't recognize them. I have put all the files in the right places although I notice the files for the geometrics directory have a different extention. Questions: Are all these P4 files any good for use in P6? Or do I have to find the money to buy P6 files? I hope there is somebody out there who can help me out with some advice. Zed4

As far as I know files created for Poser 4 should work in Poser 6.
I have a lot of stuff written for Poser 4 that works just fine with
my Poser 6. Most of the DAZ products, for example, were
written for Poser 4 long after Poser 5 was out, and Poser 6
is really just an enhanced version of Poser 5.
I'm not really sure there are any P6 specific files
you could buy. Most merchants are still trying to make
their products backwards compatable to P4 because
a lot of people still use P4.
What is there that Poser 6 isn't recognizing in your files.
What does it say when you try to load them?
It sounds to me you have some other problems going on
rather than file incompatability.

Thanks for replying. There is a folder in characters by name of ChanVis. The files in that have the extension .p2z That isn't picked up by Poser. Another folder called Deltas is the same. All files with .p2z I have a character called Carol Anne but when I try to load the character I am told to find a file called blMilGirlPT.obj And it just isn't in the computer. There are other files in the textures directory associated with this character but they are all .jpg I am coming to the conclusion that I have not been given all the necessary files. And perhaps other files are for a different application all together.

You do not have all the files that you need for that character. The blMilGirlPT, is the MilGirls that you have to purchase for that character to work. Daz3d is where you get it. The files you have are mat files, (p2z) but they are calling for the .obj file for the mat to work. When you get all the files, you can still use the geometries folder to hold your .obj files.

Thanks for the info Sharen, I can see I have a lot to learn. But there's life in this middle aged bloke yet. I know I'm alive - I get so confounded frustrated at times.

No problem, when I started poser I was lost too. It will get easier, trust me. Of course by that time, they will come out with something more confusing that we will have to learn. Sharen
