After far too much b****ring about down loading B5 imagine my supprise, neigh anoyment at that it comes without objects or,more importantly any materials. What's more I see a sky that's not to dissimilar to one I posted(for free) on this very website 3 years ago.
This is what I have been missing???

Well, Daz is a content reseller.
There is a link somewhere for content...but I think it is still only the minimal objects and materials.

Is it safe to assume you only downloaded Bryce5FreeVersionPC.zip
and have not yet downloaded and installed Bryce5FreeVersionPresets.zip?
Because after I downloaded the second part I did indeed have all the
objects, skys, materials, etc. The I went to Rendorosity's Free Stuff
and downloaded all of that that I wanted too.

"...without objects or,more importantly any materials."
-All the library presets are black? Nothing at all?
(...I'm gonna have to downoload this thing just so I can help troubleshoot.)

that's the way it comes up at first. Wierd. Yeah, get the content zip, should be part of the download process. You can also add a gazillion mats, skies, etcs., just from Freebies here.

Ah, okay...
Download made lighter with no presets. Stock presets are in a seperate download, and....what would have been the Corel 2nd CD with extra content is available for $10.
Genuis.

Your friendly neighborhood Wings3D nut.
Also feel free to browse my freebies at ShareCG.
There might be something worth downloading.

I also downloaded the free 5. When installing, I got a message that I needed to download the content also which i did. Registration was no problem at all, and I then downloaded the Bryce version that was in my downloads options.
So far so good?
But then...Bryce.
Sorry but what an interface is this? Kai Krause's mark of the extraterrestrial delirium? It's even more bizarre than Poser. Guess I'll need a manual simply to find where what is hidden.
Thanks, Daz. When I see what beautiful content has been made with this version, I'm ready to explore it. No need to upgrade as I'm used to other stuff though. Yet: who knows?

Yes, the download is a bit on the skinny side even after the preset download is added, but it's easy to beef up with a little effort. As has been said there are lots of freebies here, plus a little research will get you a reasonable arsenal. Besides, like the man said. "Wadda ya want for nothin?" lol!
BTW, IMHO the Bryce interface is nice - far less arcane than many I have seen.

rubber biscuit?..;)
If you need a manual, look no farther than the 'Real World Bryce' link at the top of the screen. Highly recommended by those who have it (not me..;), and those who don't.
There's also a hefty number of Bryce tuts out there, for whatever you want explained.
There's also....us...;)

I'd say a good way to learn Bryce is to go to the DAZ website.
Click on Support: Tutorial Arcana. The select Bryce 5 and
Oldest to Newest from the View menu.
