I have Vue 5 regular (Win), and Carrara 5 regular (Win and Mac), and a Corel version of Bryce 5 (Win)...
Is there any reason I would want to go out and get Bryce 5.5? Should I wait till Bryce 6 comes out? Ignore Bryce? Or get the 5.5 version?
What can it offer me that is better than what I already have? I use both PC and Mac, but most of my 3D software only works on my PC.

Wait for Bryce 6,.....which if you believe the hype, will be out soon. With alleged support for export of models(including booleans) made in B6 to popular formets, HDRI, and hyper-threading , to name a few, you'll be much better off(IMO). Course, it won't be cheap but there should be an upgrade discount from B5.5 and 5.

However niether will have more than what you already have...unless you're looking to import daz studio scenes.

-Yup. Why buy Bryce 5.5, when Bryce 6 will have all that and some more stuff? Don't buy twice, just upgrade to B6 when it comes out.
-And/or...knowing DAZ and their crazy discounting...Once Bryce 6 comes out, you may find you will save even more money by buying B5.5 and then upgrading to B6, lol. I'm not saying for sure that will be the case, but DAZ does some crazy stuff with sales.

Um DAZ did say that only Daz versions of bryce would be eligble for upgrade pricing.
AgentSmith posted Thu, 31 August 2006 at 7:06 PM
Actually, it sounds like DAZ will have upgrades from non-DAZ versions of Bryce.
"Oh, and about pricing..... I cannot say anything at this time other than we will be doing a very nice job of taking care of everyone who purchased version 5.5, plus an upgrade option from older versions as well."

Hold off about 2 or 3 months after the release of 6, I'll bet dollars to doughnuts DAZ will run some kind of special sale after the sales drop off ( because most of the current users upgraded ). Personally I'm debating on when I will upgrade. Most of what I have seen ( or heard about 6 ) doesn't have me jumping up & down for joy. I still use 5, because I find 5.5 just isn't stable enough for my needs. And I really don't like the way D/S imports the Poser figures. I like having complete control over all the mesh parts, and don't like the way D/S imports with material groups instead of individual body parts.
But I do get PC and Brokering discounts, so if the upgrade price is low enough. I might upgrade as soon as it comes out. Hopefully with new code it will be more stable than 5.5, or I'll still be using Coral's 5.1 for most of my needs. Which now a days is mostly making stuff to sell at DAZ ....yup I sold out to the all mighty DAZ Buck...

Bah, what with an upgrade price minus PC and Brokering discounts...you'll probably be able to pick up B6 for hardly anything. They might let you throw vouchers at it also.
