You're lucky to get 9k, best I've seen is 3-4k. Word from the CP guys is that the server load is about 15 times normal, the download links don't expire, and you might be better off waiting (sounds like good advice to me).

The entire web site is down. These guys are idiots. Why didn't they choose other outlets for downloading? Could be cost, I suppose.

Yup - they should have realised what the response would be! I have P6 but a free P5 licence would be handy for other PC's... Ah well, I suppose this is one way of limiting the uptake!

Do yourselves a favor and just don't even bother. Poser 5 doesn't do much more than PPP can do, and that which it does, it doesn't do well.
Wasn't the release of P5 instrumental in the demise of Curious Labs?

Don't even bother? How about the people who don't have Poser at all? :-)

I would imagine most people here either already do have it or aren't interested.
But in any event, there's always Daz Sudio, which is also free, and, in many people's opinion, a far better app than Poser 5.
Now, I'm not slagging Poser, just that particular version. PPP is cool, and P6 is far better for many reasons. I bought Poser 5, saw it one day on the shelf at Comp USA, and from the get-go it was a huge disappointment, IMO.

I'm getting it for the extra license.
But getting it is another story.
I've been trying for a couple days now,but I can not seem to get it.
I was able to get some of the content though.

Well, if the strain in the D? server is any indication, I'd say that quite a few people are interested. A lot of them, myself included, are getting it for the extra license, and some people are getting it because they'll take anything that's free, but I imagine there are a few ppp and p4 users who didn't have the money to upgrade, and are taking advantage of the chance to do so for free now.

If you already have Poser5 and just want an extra license, why not get just the new serial number and make a copy of what you already have?
After seeing how slow things were going, that’s what I did…or am I missing something in my thinking?

Not so sure I understand what's in the value of the "extra license", unless if you mean so you can legally be running Poser on another machine at the same time, like for a family member or coworker or something?
Well, then again, I was referring to Renderosity people. This may be the largest digital graph...I mean, Poser site on the WWW, but I'm sure there are many other sources for the traffic to their site.
OK, if you want to call it an upgrade, go right ahead. ;)
IIRC until I managed to download the first patch, it crashed every time I tried to load a figure. There were other problems too, but I can't remember all the details. I do remember though that "Judy" is really one butt-ugly, horribly-made figure, which needs alot of work, particularly with the face morphs.
The whole app, for that matter, seems like it was rushed out the door, presumably to start bringing in the cash for CL. Ironic that that's what helped finish them off...
