I don't know if this has anything to do with installing Vue Infinite a couple of days ago, but since then Poser has become unusable. It crashes if I loadi a figure or open a file..anything in fact. Poser 6 is basically unusable now ...despite 3 reinstalls, and I have no idea how to get it to work again. Never had this problem before during 4 years of using Poser 4 and 6.
It may be a long shot but has anyone else had problems opening or using Poser 6 after installing Vue Infinite. I've been using Vue D''prit for a couple of years w/out a problem. If anyone could help I'd be really grateful.
I'm on a PC, lots of RAM and hard drive space, Win XP.

One thing I've found that does make a difference to Poser is the version of OpenGL support. When DAZ 3D did their special deal on Hexagon, I found that I needed a video driver upgrade for everything to work properly. I don't know if Vue could have changed anything. There are two quick checks you can make. In Poser, it's possible to switch off the OpenGL requirement. It's also possible to reduce the hardware acceleration setting in Windows. If either of these have a beneficial effect, get an updated driver. And go to the manufacturer. Windows Update just isn't current on this.

I don't see a reason why installing Vue would harm Poser. Did you try installing the Poser SR3?

Sorry to hear that, I have Poser 6 and Vue 5 infinite running ok on my machine!
Poser is SR3, Vue is the latest one, my OpenGL card is an Nvidia 7300GS
Hope ya get it sorted!

I've had P6 and V5I running perfectly for ages too - in fact I have 3 versions of Vue installed as I never uninstalled after getting newer versions so I have 4 Pro, 5 Desprit and 5 Infinite.

Woow, you must have a lot of disk space!
gillbrooks posted Sat, 02 September 2006 at 1:23 PM
2 x fixed 80gb drives and 2 x external 250gb to date ;-)

Hmm..... Have you run a registry cleaner recently? V5I is more dependant on the OS than other versions, so it is possible that some bit of dangling COM garbage is interfering; not so much as Vue killing Poser, but the Vue install affecting the OS to kill Poser. If you -do- decide to reinstall Vue, go into regedit and search the registry for anything relating to Vue or e-on and delete it before you reinstall.

I have had issues with OpenGL but only trying to render using Open GL in Hexagon. I'm running a GeForce 2 Nvdidia MX/MX400 64mb card..but what's weird is that I've never had a problem with Poser before...well not big ones anyway..this is about as bad as it could get. :-/
I found a message on the Vue site from someone with a similar problem which may explain the problem (I hope!). Apparently Poser and Vue "talk" to each other, and if Vue encounters a bodgy Poser serial no. Poser becomes inoperable. The Vue technician suggested applying to Poser for a new serial no. For some reason it may have thought my version of Poser is pirated.
I'm not sure yet if this is the problem...but if it is I'm hopping mad that I after paying almost $1,000AUD for Poser + Vue Infinite, one of them is refusing to work because of the under-the- radar cross checking used to keep tabs on piracy.
I'll contact Poser about it and post the results. Wish me luck..I'm going through severe Poser withdrawals here. Might be time for a new hobby.

I bought the Power Bundle (Vue 5 Esprit + Mover + Poser 6) and it all works great. I later upgraded to Vue 5 Infinite and Poser is still working fine. I did have to change my graphics drivers to get OpenGL to work right but that was my fault. I hope you figure out what went wrong.

GOOD NEWS - after updating my Nvidia drivers P6 is working. I don't understand why P6 suddenly stopped working because it had been running w/out a problem for a year or more under the old drivers. Anyway..I'm relieved that P6 is working again :-)
Thanks again for suggestions etc.
